Due to growth, JML seeks to hire 1–2 lawyers with 3–10 years of experience to work with our construction and insurance groups. Successful applicants will have experience in areas such as construction, civil litigation, arbitration, and insurance law. Successful applicants will have sound judgment, strong oral and written communication and advocacy skills, and an eagerness to learn and develop to achieve a standard of excellence in the practice of law. The compensation is competitive and consistent with the salaries paid by other top law firms in Vancouver that have significantly higher targets. Mid to senior-level lawyers are provided with opportunities for lucrative and rewarding practice development, including opportunities to be compensated on a revenue share deal that considers factors such as fees collected, the value of work originated, years meeting target, etc. JML welcomes applications from candidates located outside of Vancouver. While our office is based in Vancouver, we are open to remote arrangements for the right candidate. Our lawyers work on a range of matters, including: Collaborating with a team on complex litigation and arbitration matters led by experienced counsel who are top lawyers in construction and insurance law. Taking day-to-day conduct of smaller or less complex matters from pleadings through to resolution. Providing contract drafting and negotiation advice as well as project advice while construction projects are underway. Filing and enforcing claims of builders liens, including taking conduct of matters and providing support on more complex lien matters under the supervision and guidance of leading builders lien lawyers. Advising clients on insurance coverage and advocating for insurance policyholders. Although many of our lawyers focus on construction law, the firm has a number of other practice areas such as commercial litigation (shareholder disputes, real estate transactions, etc.), insurance coverage, indigenous development and infrastructure, professional regulatory matters, and mediation and arbitration. Letters of reference (if you have them already) LSAT score (preferred) The salary range for this position is $118,000 - $220,000, which represents fair market value. Actual salary will depend on various factors, including job-related experience, internal and market equity.
