Jensen Chartered Professional Accountants (JCPA) is looking for a Senior Accountant to join our growing team. We are searching for a team member enrolled in the CPA PEP program or a recent CPA graduate that is passionate about helping small to medium size businesses. As an additional benefit, we are a pre-approved training office with CPA Alberta. Roles and Responsibilities Liaise with business owners, show comfort identifying and discussing the accounting/reporting and tax concepts relevant to the industry and engagement with Partners and Client. Diagnose accounting/reporting and tax deficiencies and generate custom solutions for business Owners/Management. Demonstrate an understanding and interest in small to medium size private corporations, their accounting/reporting and tax needs. Show technical accounting/tax skill (ASPE, ITAs) and ability to pass knowledge to others: bookkeeping, financial reporting, compilations, and tax (T1, T2, T3s). Welcome new clients, organize and set-up newly incorporated businesses, identifying accounting processes. Organize, manage, and compile full cycle bookkeeping engagements for clients through QuickBooks Online and Tax Cycle software integrations Review, investigate and correct discrepancies and irregularities in financial entries, documents, and reports. Collaborate with team members prior to commencement of client work to discuss roles and responsibilities and deadlines. Identify client file areas of concern and address potential solution with managers and engagement partners. Contribute to the development of new ideas and approaches to improve work processes. Participate in shared learning opportunities at JCPA, present on topics of expertise or areas of identified improvement Experience required Enrolled in the CPA PEP Program or recent CPA graduate. Experience working with, or exposure to, accounting and tax software such as Profile T1/T2/T3, Tax Cycle, QuickBooks Online, Xero and integration software such as Dext is beneficial. Experience with compilation and tax engagements. Strong computer literacy including effective working skills of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Culture and Fit Fun, relaxed work environment.
