This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Litigation Specialist based in Canada. This role sits within a national bodily injury claims team and focuses on managing litigation files from investigation through resolution. You will handle claims of varying complexity while working toward timely, fair, and financially sound outcomes. The position involves close collaboration with defense counsel, internal stakeholders, and other claims professionals. You will apply insurance policy language, case law, negotiation expertise, and claims judgment to assess exposure and coverage. The role also provides opportunities to contribute to cost-containment strategies and identify emerging litigation and claims trends. As a remote position, it offers flexibility while remaining highly collaborative and stakeholder-focused. You will also have the opportunity to mentor junior claims professionals and contribute to continuous improvement across the claims function. Accountabilities Investigate, evaluate, negotiate, and resolve litigation files of varying complexity, with a focus on timely and fair outcomes. Direct and guide defense counsel throughout litigation, ensuring appropriate strategies are followed and cases progress toward optimal resolution. Interpret complex insurance policy language and applicable case law, determine coverage, assess exposure, and establish appropriate reserves. Review defense counsel reports and recommendations, approve settlements within established authority limits, and coordinate required payment processes. Participate in private mediations, settlement meetings, hearings, and other litigation-related proceedings as required. Contribute to regional cost-containment strategies by identifying opportunities to improve claims outcomes and litigation efficiency. Monitor emerging trends, legislative developments, case law interpretations, and claims issues, assessing their potential impact and identifying opportunities to improve results. Mentor and coach junior claims professionals, sharing knowledge and supporting the development of effective claims-handling practices. Requirements Minimum 3 years of strong insurance experience, with a focus on litigation claims within a bodily injury claims environment. Demonstrated ability to investigate, assess, negotiate, and resolve complex claims while balancing timely resolution with appropriate exposure management. Strong strategic negotiation skills and the ability to pursue early resolution without unnecessary delays. Ability to quickly assess situations and financial or legal exposure while effectively managing multiple stakeholders. Strong judgment and communication skills, with the ability to guide defense counsel and other stakeholders toward mutually beneficial resolutions. Solid understanding of insurance principles, casualty claims, litigation processes, policy coverage, and relevant case law. CIP designation completed or currently in progress is considered an asset. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex claims matters clearly and professionally. Ability to work independently in a remote environment while collaborating effectively with colleagues, counsel, and other stakeholders. Benefits Annual compensation: Expected salary range of CAD $71,400–$113,925, with actual compensation determined by skills and experience. Candidates should have strong knowledge of insurance principles, casualty claims, litigation, coverage, and case law, as well as sound judgment, communication, negotiation, and remote collaboration skills; a CIP designation completed or in progress is an asset.
