About the role
Opportunity Summary:
The Sales Representative is primarily responsible for identifying, developing, and securing new business opportunities to drive revenue growth and achieve annual sales objectives in the Ontario (Canada) region.
This role places a strong emphasis on proactive prospecting, lead generation, and building a robust pipeline of new customers. The role also includes supporting and maintaining existing customer relationships, as needed, to ensure continuity and service excellence.
The Sales Representative will partner with Area Sales and Operations leadership to complete budget planning, understand and sell available machine capacity and value-added services, and support cross-functional teams to execute the sales strategy.
How you will impact Smurfit WestRock:
- Define the overall account vision and a strategic growth plan for targeted customers by aligning market trends and customer needs with Smurfit WestRock solutions
- Identify pricing dynamics within accounts to inform Smurfit WestRock commercial decisions
- Articulate the sales vision and strategy to identify leads, manage prospects, and develop a robust sales pipeline
- Meet or exceed individual budgeted and volume sales goals to contribute to the organization’s annual targets
- Use the CRM system effectively to manage opportunities and the pipeline consistently
- Navigate customers’ organizational structures and build relationships at multiple levels
- Manage contractual relationships and negotiate multi-year contracts
- Deliver results by executing weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets
- Drive commercial excellence to exceed Area volume and profit goals through new account development in targeted segments, growth in existing accounts, margin improvement plans, and enterprise sales support
- Utilize internal resources to leverage knowledge of market trends and competition
- Monitor profitability to track progress against budgeted targets and analyze monthly financial summaries
- Understand market dynamics and business drivers that shape long-term commercial strategies, and develop plans to achieve company objectives
- Develop working relationships with other Smurfit Westrock facilities to create opportunities for additional revenue streams across the enterprise capabilities
- Seek and qualify prospective customers in accordance with the sales strategy
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure effective execution of the overall sales strategy
- Identify value-added opportunities to improve margins
- Manage customer engagement throughout the sales lifecycle to meet contractual obligations and enable customer satisfaction
What you need to succeed:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- 5–10 years of business-to-business (B2B) sales experience (manufacturing/service industry preferred)
- Related experience in sales execution and pipeline management
- Ability to drive results by influencing others within different functions
- Ability to create and deliver engaging presentations to internal and external audiences
- Demonstrated sales competence and financial acumen
- Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Powerpoint)
- Experience with Salesforce
- Experience with reporting tools (e.g., Power BI, QlikView)
