Hiring: Senior Data Engineer - Talend Location: Edmonton, Alberta, Remote (3-4 onsite meetings per year) Duration: September 1, 2026 – August 31, 2027 Hourly Rate: $85/hour - $105/hour (based on experience) Client: Public Sector Responsibilities: Demonstrated hands-on experience developing data integration solutions with Talend (Data Integration / Data Fabric / Talend Studio) Strong SQL skills and experience working with relational databases (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL). Proven experience designing ETL/ELT processes, data mappings, and transformation logic for enterprise data. Experience operating and supporting integration jobs in a production environment, including scheduling, monitoring, and incident resolution. Translate business and data requirements into robust technical designs, applying data-mapping, transformation, and reconciliation logic Build parameterized, reusable, and context-aware jobs that promote cleanly across development, test, and production environments. Implement performance-tuned, scalable integration patterns for both batch and near-real-time data movement. Design and expose secure data services and APIs using Azure API Management for downstream systems. Implement data governance practices, including metadata management, data classification, and lineage tracking. Ensure compliance with privacy and regulatory standards (e.g., POPA) through role-based access controls, encryption, and data masking. Design, develop, and unit-test Talend integration jobs, routes, and reusable components to extract, transform, and load data between source systems, databases, files, APIs, and cloud storage Schedule, orchestrate, deploy, and monitor Talend jobs; proactively track execution, throughput, and failures. Provide day-to-day operational support including triage, troubleshooting, and resolve integration incidents and data-load failures within agreed service levels. Monitor and troubleshoot data pipelines and integrations, ensuring reliability, scalability, and performance across the platform. Utilize AI and automation tools to streamline data engineering workflows, including pipeline development, testing, monitoring, and documentation. Leverage AI-assisted tools for code generation, optimization, and review to improve development efficiency and code quality. Other duties as needed Must Haves: (Certifications are highly preferred) Post-Secondary degree, diploma or certificate in Computer Science or related field of study. Minimum 3 years’ demonstrated experience designing, developing, testing, and supporting enterprise integration solutions using Talend Studio. Experience should include developing ETL/ELT jobs, data transformations, orchestration workflows, error handling, and deployment-ready integration components supporting critical business processes Minimum 3 years’ experience administering and supporting Talend Management Console (TMC) or Talend Administration Center (TAC), including job deployment, scheduling, environment management, monitoring, execution tracking, release promotion, and operational support across development, test, and production environments. Minimum 3 years’ experience installing, configuring, supporting, and troubleshooting Talend Remote Engines, Job Servers, and Talend runtime infrastructure. Responsibilities should include environment maintenance, log analysis, performance tuning, connectivity troubleshooting, security configuration, and ensuring platform reliability and availability. Minimum 2 years’ experience providing production support for enterprise integration solutions, including incident management, root cause analysis, monitoring, performance optimization, configuration management, deployment validation, and resolution of integration failures in complex enterprise environments. Minimum 4 years’ experience working within a mature Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) utilizing Git-based source control, code reviews, CI/CD pipelines, testing, release management, documentation, and change management processes. Demonstrated ability to deliver solutions through development, testing, deployment, and ongoing support while adhering to organizational standards and governance. Minimum 1 year experience using AI-Experienced in using AI for code generation, data analysis, automation, and enhancing productivity in data engineering workflows. Nice to have: Minimum 6 years direct, hands-on experience performing business requirement analysis related to data manipulation/transformation, cleansing and wrangling. Minimum 6 years’ experience and strong technical knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server, including database design, optimization, and administration in enterprise environments. Minimum 2 years’ experience building scalable ETL pipelines, data quality enforcement, and cloud integration using TALEND technologies. Minimum 3 years’ experience building secure, scalable RESTful APIs for data exchange, with robust auth, error handling, and support for real-time automation. Minimum 3 years’ experience in Message Queueing Technologies, implementing message queuing using tools like ActiveMQ and Service Bus for scalable, asynchronous communication across distributed systems. Minimum 1-year experience working with ServiceNow- Azure based Data Management Platform Integrations. Requirements
Requires a post-secondary degree and at least 3 years of experience with Talend Studio, TMC/TAC, and production support. Candidates must have 4 years of SDLC experience and at least 1 year of experience utilizing AI tools for data engineering.
