About the role
About the role We are looking to add a reliable and hardworking Part-time Gardener / Property Maintenance Technician to join our team. If you are self-motivated, enjoy working independently, and take pride in your work, we would welcome you to apply! This position is primarily focused on gardening and landscape maintenance as the primary duties, and general property maintenance outside and inside the building as secondary duties. There will be some travel involved.
What you'll do Plant, water, fertilize, prune (basic), and maintain flowers, shrubs, trees, and garden beds. Trim hedges, edge pathways, weed gardens and perform seasonal clean-up. Maintain irrigation systems. Keep the grounds well maintained and clean. Operate trimmers, blowers, chainsaws, tractors, and other landscaping equipment. Various regular outside maintenance/cleaning of building (ie. window cleaning of exterior grounds, loading bays). Painting and general repairs (ie. grouting, floor repairs, door repairs). Assist with vacant and available units, performing necessary hands-on maintenance tasks to make ready for occupancy. Complete minor electrical / plumbing repairs, as necessary (light switches, light fixtures, faucets, toilets, unplug drains etc). Conduct regular inspections and walkthroughs of mechanical and electrical equipment located within the building, including roof top equipment, sprinkler systems, etc. Assist with and perform preventative maintenance to all building equipment and systems. Update and maintain all necessary maintenance records. Other duties, as requested.
Qualifications Landscaping experience, required Minimum 5 years of applicable working experience in general building repair and maintenance, and basic plumbing and electrical. High school diploma or GED equivalent required; completion of an applicable technical training program, desirable. Mechanically adept, knowing how to safely use tools and equipment. Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing and HVAC. Ability to meet deadlines, excellent organization skills. Able to supply their own tools and safety equipment. Ability to meet physical demands of the job and in good overall physical health. Comfortable working outdoors. Valid Class 5 Drivers License, with an acceptable drivers' abstract. Criminal background check, required. Excellent English communication, both written and orally.
