About the role
Community Connection –Volunteer Driver
Bridgeway Family Homes is an exceptional and caring community providing specialized family-based, child-focused foster care. Our Transportation Service was established to provide support and assistance to families/caregivers in their efforts to transport children, youth, and adults to access visits, respite, school, and medical appointments.
We strive to have a group of professional Volunteer Drivers who are equipped, skilled, dependable, and reliable. As a Volunteer Driver, you will be providing a valuable and important service where communication is critical to the success of the Transportation Service.
Requirements for this role:
- Current Broad Record Check (obtained from local Police).
- Current Child Welfare Record Check (obtained from local Children’s Aid Society)
- Driver’s Abstract showing Class “G” Driver’s License.
- Vehicle with $2 million liability insurance.
- Vehicle is insured and in good working condition.
- Willing to complete local and non-local drives.
- Internet access with a personal email address/computer.
- Cell phone.
Infant/child car seats are provided.
Kilometer reimbursement for distance traveled from when you leave your home, complete the drive and return home at $0.45 per km.
Volunteers play a vital role in providing services to our community.

Since 1988, Bridgeway has provided care for over 2500 Foster Children/Youth in partnership with over 445 Foster Parents. Bridgeway Family Homes is licensed by the Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services (MCCSS) to provide foster care services to children, youth, and young adults across Ontario including:
- Greater Toronto Area / Central (Durham, York, Peel, Halton, Dufferin, Simcoe)
- East (Peterborough, Kawartha Lakes, Northumberland, Hastings, Kingston)
- West (Waterloo/Kitchener, Hamilton, Niagara, Middlesex/London)
Bridgeway specializes in caring for youth who have multiple diagnoses and complex care needs such as FASD, autism, mental health conditions, depression, self-harming behaviours, ODD, PDD, brain injuries, and other challenges. We facilitate training, therapeutic support, clinical services, respite care, and transportation services.
