Role
As a Senior Surety Broker, or Surety Client Executive, you will specialize in marketing Surety Accounts and managing key client relationships, with a focus on the natural resources, oil & gas, and power and renewables industries. You will work closely with clients to structure and secure reclamation bonds, supply guarantees, performance bonds, and other types of Surety instruments.
This role requires a strong focus on client service, including the development and stewardship of long-term relationships built on trust, expertise, and consistent service delivery. You will serve as a strategic advisor to your clients, helping them navigate complex bonding requirements and achieve their project and compliance goals.
Key Accountabilities
- Manage surety accounts across mining, energy, and oil & gas sectors, with a focus on reclamation and commercial surety bonds.
- Conduct research and financial analysis on client portfolios to ensure compliance with contractual obligations.
- Identify prospective clients and target industries through strategic market research.
- Analyze financial information and assess credit requests for both public and private enterprises.
- Prepare and present detailed reports and findings to clients, prospects, and management.
- Develop comprehensive submissions to underwriters highlighting new client opportunities.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, underwriters, and professional partners.
- Design tailored surety solutions by assessing operational risks, delivering high-quality service, and providing strategic recommendations to enhance clients’ financial profiles for bond approvals.
- Monitor evolving regulatory requirements in the industries of focus, advising clients on compliance and potential impacts to their obligations.
- Support renewal processes and monitor receivables.
- Coordinate with underwriters and legal teams to structure bonds, contracts, and indemnity agreements effectively, ensuring optimal coverage for clients.
Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or related field.

5-7 years of relevant experience in investment banking, commercial lending or the surety industry.

Experience with clients in mining, energy, renewables, power, and oil & gas considered a strong asset.

Strong financial acumen, with proficiency in Excel and experience analyzing financial statements.

Valid Alberta Insurance Council (AIC) license, or willingness to obtain.

Familiarity with credit risk assessment and financial underwriting.

Detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.

Excellent communications skill, both written and oral.
