Members of the following employment equity deserving groups will be prioritized for this job: Indigenous Peoples About the role Join the Insurance and Securitization team, in the Specialist, Quantitative Analysis position. In this role, you will lead the development, implementation, calibration, documentation, and maintenance of complex quantitative analyses to drive insights as well as lead the effective management of the strategic decision rules. This is a temporary position of a duration of 12 months.
What you’ll do
Employ qualitative and quantitative analytical techniques, including scenario-building, modeling of alternatives, etc., to provide assessments of product and pricing (Insurance & Lending) and analytics. Maintaining and applying expert knowledge of best practices and recent advances in quantitative methods and analytical techniques. Monitoring market trends, economic conditions and other factors that influence financial and mortgage sectors. Translating complex model results into clear, decision-useful insights for senior management, committees and stakeholders. Monitoring model performance to ensure ongoing quality and proactively identify opportunities to improve existing models and analytical tools. Support model development and updates to inform business decisions and analysis; models are used for purposes such as underwriting, pricing, stress testing, capital adequacy assessment, business analytics including financial projections, and automated systems and tools. Maintaining relationships with internal and external partners to ensure the bidirectional knowledge transfer required to develop, validate and implement models using state-of-the-art methods and technology.
What you should have
An undergraduate degree in a quantitative field, such as statistics, Mathematics, computer science, engineering, or business intelligence. An expertise with the standard Microsoft suite, SQL and other tools such as open-source tools (R, Python) and data visualization (Power BI, Tableau). A minimum of five (5) years of experience in housing finance, specifically multi-unit lending. An equivalent combination of education and/or experience can be considered. Sound analytical skills with demonstrated quantitative/qualitative analytical and problem-solving skills to capture and synthesize information and develop recommendations and provide advice. Developed communication skills and the ability to make clear and concise presentations for decision making. The ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
It would be great if you also had
Bilingualism (English and French) is considered a strong asset.
Knowledge of IFRS 17. Knowledge of the Mortgage Insurance and Securitization business as well as the Mortgage Insurance Capital Adequacy Test: (MICAT).
Professional designation (Associate or Fellow of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries, Casualty Actuarial Society, Society of Actuaries, Chartered Financial Analyst, Professional Risk Manager, Financial Risk Manager, or Chartered Professional Accountant).
