Reporting to the General Manager, Operations, the Mobile Maintenance Manager provides leadership, oversight, and direction for the Mobile Maintenance department. Working closely with Planning and Scheduling, Operations, Reliability, and Supply Chain, this role ensures the safe, timely, and cost-effective execution of maintenance activities. The Manager leads a multi-skilled maintenance team, implements technical best practices, and establishes consistent standards, policies, and procedures. This role is accountable for improving equipment uptime by reducing downtime, increasing mean time between failures, improving mean time to repair, and driving key performance indicators while ensuring full compliance with health, safety, and environmental requirements.
Main Accountabilities
Establish and maintain work standards and standard operating procedures across all areas of responsibility to support safe, efficient, productive, and high-quality work practices, while ensuring compliance with Company policies and procedures. Provide visible field leadership to maintain site-wide operational awareness and reinforce safe, effective maintenance practices. Model the Company’s values and ensure employees understand and demonstrate the expected behaviours and standards. Lead the execution of maintenance activities for mobile mining equipment to ensure safe, efficient, and effective equipment operation while controlling costs. Maintain strong awareness of business priorities and cross-functional requirements to ensure the Maintenance Department meets or exceeds Company objectives. Develop, monitor, and report on departmental key performance indicators to drive accountability, reliability, and continuous improvement. Manage the department’s operating and capital budgets by preparing forecasts, monitoring expenditures, and identifying cost-control opportunities. Promote and implement continuous improvement initiatives across all aspects of maintenance performance. Support procurement activities by providing technical input and completing technical bid evaluations for mobile assets and related services. Lead, coach, and mentor the Mobile Maintenance team to achieve or exceed equipment availability and reliability targets while maintaining cost discipline. Manage team performance and capability through hiring, coaching, mentoring, succession planning, development planning, performance feedback, and corrective action, including discipline when required. Review, assess, and manage the performance of maintenance leadership team members. Apply fair, consistent, and timely corrective action when required, in accordance with Company policies.

Main Qualifications
Trade certification or technical diploma required. Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical) is an asset. Red Seal certification is considered an asset. Minimum seven (7) years of progressive leadership experience. Minimum ten (10) years of experience with surface mobile mining equipment. Advanced experience using computerized maintenance management systems; SAP experience preferred.

Compensation
Compensation for this position is aligned with Baffinland’s approved compensation framework and current market conditions. Final compensation will be determined based on:

This site-based role is eligible for participation in the travel benefits, site premiums, comprehensive health and dental coverage, and pension participation.
