The Opportunity
As a Financial Reporting Analyst, you play a key role in enabling strategic decision making across Alberta Innovates and InnoTech Alberta. You provide high quality financial analysis, forecasting, and advice that supports publicly funded programs with province wide impact. Working closely with corporate finance, program leaders, and functional managers, you translate complex financial data into meaningful insights that inform funding decisions and organizational priorities.

Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for duties that will include:
Forecasting, Budgeting and Reporting
- Prepare and maintain monthly forecasts and annual budgets paying attention to accuracy and details.
- Analyze variances (budget vs. forecast; forecast vs. actual) and deliver insights at the program and corporate level.
- Prepare clear, timely financial reports and dashboards for management.
- Interpret financial results and trends to support planning and decision making.
Program Financial Oversight and Compliance
- Review funding agreements and amendments to confirm financial commitments, payment schedules, and compliance with signing authority policies.
- Compile contractual rights and obligations for year end financial reporting and audit purposes.
- Provide financial analysis and guidance to program areas on funding structures and financial performance.
Financial Advice
- Provide daily financial advice and support to program areas and functional managers ensuring they feel confident in their understanding.
- Liaison between finance department and functional areas concerning financial matters, understanding the audience for communication.
- Provide ad hoc reports or information as requested.
Qualifications and Skills
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
- CPA – Chartered Professional Accountant
- Minimum three years of progressive experience in financial reporting, analysis, or budgeting
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
- Ability to build strong partnerships with well developed interpersonal and communication skills
- Adept at communicating financial concepts to audiences with varying levels of financial literacy
- Strong analytical and detail orientated skills with the ability to interpret and explain financial information
- Excellent time management and organizational skills
- Can effectively work in a changing environment
- Strong proficiency with the English language, excellent verbal & written communication skills
- Proficiency with MS Office software
Preferred
- Experience in the public sector, grant funding or research organizations
- Exposure to year-end reporting or compliance frameworks
- Experience supporting multiple stakeholders or program portfolios
