About the role
What You’ll Do: Ensure compliance with all project requirements including the project agreement, environmental assessment, permits, licenses, approvals and applicable environmental laws and regulations Demonstrate knowledge of ISO 14001 certification and the requirements for obtaining and maintaining such certification. Performs field inspections, surveys and walk downs of environment related activities to assure field activities, conditions and results correspond with the environmental controls implemented Prepare reports summarizing environmental issues and deficiencies and associated corrective and preventative measures Liaise with the environmental team and operations and maintenance teams and attend meetings to provide updates to the client Identify and report on environmental issues and concerns to the Environmental Senior Manager and recommend appropriate corrective actions Identify opportunities for continual improvement within the context of project execution and works with the Environmental Senior Manager to develop and implement proactive strategies Responsible for the implementation of a variety of environmental checklists and reports as per contractual requirement
What You’ll Bring to the Team: Diploma or a Bachelor or advanced degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in an environmental related discipline (ecology/biology/environmental science) A minimum of 5 years of experience conducting environmental inspections, monitoring and compliance Experience with similar projects in Ontario Experience in environmental monitoring, oversight, and/or reporting Experience applying methods, approaches, and best management practices related to environmental inspections, including experience with the MTO Construction Administration and Inspection Task Manual, dated April 2005, and as amended from time to time Experience with Ontario’s Transit Project Assessment Process, GO Transit Class EA Document, and Environmental Assessment Act (Ontario) Experience with relevant federal and Ontario environmental policies, procedures and legislation Excellent interpersonal skills Strong influencing and leadership skills Builds strong teams and promotes a teamwork culture Perform effectively in a fast-paced, start-up environment – comfortable to act with uncertainty and able to quickly and effectively create new systems, policies and procedures with limited resources for quality and timely implementation Work driven with a high level of engagement and energy
Expected compensation for this role is between $80,000-$110,000 annually. Base salaries are determined according to multiple factors including skills, experience and potential impact on the role. Internal and external competitiveness are also taken into consideration. In addition to base salary ONxpress also offers a comprehensive medical and dental program, RRSP with company matching and the potential to participate in our discretionary, performance based bonus program.
