It requires the application of knowledge and skills developed through formal education and related experience. Work is typically conducted independently and includes regular interaction with clients; assessing needs; researching and analyzing information; and developing, recommending, and implementing solutions, strategies, and plans. Assignments generally involve structured problems and well-defined circumstances. While this position is non‑clerical, it may include certain administrative responsibilities. The role may also involve supervising small teams of employees at lower classification levels. Key Responsibilities Provide professional advice, guidance, and recommendations. Conduct needs assessments to identify issues, gaps, and opportunities. Research, compile, and analyze relevant information. Develop, recommend, and implement strategies, solutions, and operational plans. Interpret and provide clarification on related policies and procedures. Offer procedural guidance to clients and staff. Build and maintain effective professional relationships. Coach, mentor, and train subordinate staff as required. Schedule, assign, and review work performed by subordinate staff. Evaluate outcomes and results to ensure effectiveness of implemented solutions. Knowledge of: Moderately complex methods, techniques, and practices, along with foundational theories and principles relevant to the field. Departmental policies, procedures, and operational requirements. Applicable software and related digital tools. Relevant legislation and regulatory frameworks. Supervisory methods and practices. General office administration procedures. Skills and Abilities: Strong organizational and time‑management skills. Proficiency with standard computer applications. Ability to initiate, develop, and maintain effective professional relationships. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Qualifications Diploma in a related field Considerable years of related experience. Where appropriate, equivalencies may be considered. Applicants with education credentials earned outside of Canada should have their credentials evaluated by World Education Services (WES), International Qualifications Assessment Service (IQAS) or the Comparative Education Services (CES). Classification – Advisor/Specialist II This position is covered by the Alberta Union of Provincial Employees (AUPE) Collective Agreement. Remuneration Refer to salary range noted on this posting, plus a comprehensive benefits package.
