Position: Teacher Consultant - Educational Technology
Location(s): Education Service Center (ESC) - Edson, Alberta
and/ or
Hinton Learning Services Centre (HSC) - Hinton, Alberta
Start Date: Duties will commence on September 1, 2026 (or a mutually agreeable start date) and will conclude on June 29, 2027
Hours of Work: 37.5 hours per week, 1.0 FTE Monday - Friday
Reports to: Director of Technology

Providing leadership in GYPSD, the Teacher Consultant - Educational Technology is knowledgeable about the Alberta programs of study, skilled at teacher collaboration and sharing promising practices, with specific expertise in emerging and assistive technologies to support student learning. The Teacher Consultant - Educational Technology supports teachers in building their capacity and strengthening instructional practices to provide effective universal support for all students. As an instructional leader, the Teacher Consultant - Educational Technology continues to gain knowledge about emerging trends, technologies and research-based instructional practices.

Job Description
In accordance with the Director of Information Technology’s specifications and direction: Work closely with the Technology Team to implement the goals and strategies of the Learning Technology Policy Framework (LTPF). Supporting PowerSchool SIS, PowerTeacher Pro, K-9 Digital Report Card and Outcome-Based reporting, MyPowerHub, Dossier & Vretta Online Assessment both in the Technology Department, and working alongside teachers and principals to support their effective use of these platforms will be a large part of this role. Promote research based educational technology strategies and assistive technologies to support the highest level of learning for all students. Contribute to improving and facilitating division-wide leadership and professional staff development strategies in educational technology. Provide ongoing training for division staff to effectively utilize technologies to enhance and improve student learning outcomes. Recommend research-based information and resources to support effective technology applications for school, class and individual levels. Analyze student data response to emerging technologies and assistive technologies to guide programming decisions for individual students, school-based interventions and division-wide best practices. Share knowledge about emerging trends, technologies and research-based instructional practices, especially in the domain of educational technology & assistive technologies Actively demonstrate and subscribe to the practice of educational leadership Support video streaming and video conferencing programming and courses. Contribute to achieving the outcomes established for Learning Services and the division. Other duties as assigned by the Director of Technology.

Qualifications
The Teacher Consultant - Educational Technology must possess (or be eligible for) a valid Alberta teaching; certificate, have a minimum of six years of successful teaching experience; Possess (or be working toward) a Master’s Degree in a related field; Demonstrate all of the competencies outlined in the Alberta Leadership Quality Standards and Have superior technology skills to be able to work in the divisional context. A valid Alberta driver’s license is required.
The Division
Grande Yellowhead Public School Division (GYPSD) stretches from Jasper National Park, east to Evansburg, south of Cadomin, and northwest to Grande Cache. The jurisdiction includes 17 schools, 5 Learning Connection Centers, approximately 5000 students and 600 staff. The Division is governed by seven elected Trustees.
