Position: Network Administrator Reporting to: Director, Capital Assets Location: Allison Bernard Memorial High School (all sites) Term: Full-time Start date: August 25, 2026
Job Summary: The Network Administrator is responsible for general network maintenance on local area networks relating to users and network devices across the organization. The Network Administrator will install hardware and software, configure, troubleshoot, respond to problems, and communicate with all end users under the Eskasoni School Board. Responsibilities: Provide internal IT support, software updates, hardware maintenance, etc. Administer and maintain the use of local area networks as well as connections to the internet and computer equipment. Such as: replacing connectors and repairing network cables, routers, and switches. Add users (staff and students) to the Eskasoni school domain, and reset passwords as needed. Set up workstations and provide training and technical support to all staff, including other locations. Add users to Xerox machines and other printing devices. Install, maintain, evaluate, and upgrade all computer hardware and software. Set up and repair computer equipment and related devices. If unable to repair computer equipment, make arrangements to send it out for repairs. Set up and maintain a VoIP phone system and maintain a list of phone numbers. And ensuring the phones are connected to the PoE switch. Assist users with troubleshooting issues related to computers, hardware, software, printers, copiers, phones, etc. Add wireless devices to the network, such as: iPads, Chromebooks, laptops, and MacBooks. Administer and manage wireless access. Configure firewall and security updates. Monitor network performance and troubleshoot network problems. Resolve problems reported by end users and specify system requirements. Liaise with Atlantic First Nation Tech Services for troubleshooting network and computer devices. Identify and assess technology needs based on the needs of the organization for senior management. Liaise with vendors to ensure efficient and cost-effective purchase of technology; oversee warranties and service agreements. Assist with inventory management by tagging and tracking all IT inventory, including equipment sign-outs. Identify computer equipment that needs to be recycled and prepare for disposal. Set up computers in classrooms. Assist senior management with the direction and facilitation of network strategic planning. File and archive all IT-related documents (i.e., requisitions, software licenses, software locations, etc.). Assist with file recovery operations and file conversions as necessary. Perform tests for security and quality control purposes. Other related duties as required.
Requirements: Diploma in Network Administration or IT Systems and Management Minimum 2 years of related work experience Experience in networking, routing, and switches Ability to configure, troubleshoot network performance, server hardware, and manage firewalls High degree of resourcefulness, flexibility, and adaptability Proficient with Windows, MS Office, G Suite, PC/Mac operating systems Fluency in Mi'kmaw Language preferred Knowledge or experience working in Mi'kmaw communities is an asset. Satisfactory criminal record check, vulnerable sector check, and child abuse registry check.
Salary Range: Tier 9 - $49,808 to $59,473
