Contract Type: Part-time Temporary (0.857 FTE)

Salary Range: The starting annual salary for this teaching position ranges from $60,325 to $102,143, with placement on the range based on length of service and qualifications in accordance with the collective agreement.

Association and School District No. 5 (Southeast Kootenay).

-Preference will be given to applicants with BC Teacher Certification.

-Must have a degree/formal training and/or teaching experience in subjects and at a level specific to each
posting.

Job Summary:

Online Middle School Teacher

0.857 FTE temporary contract, starting September 8, 2026 or upon completion of
the posting process to June 25, 2027.

Must have a degree/formal training and or teaching experience in Asynchronous
Online Learning.

This is a multi-grade, multi-subject posting that includes facilitating all
middle school (Grade 7-9) Humanities, Careers, and ADST online courses, as
well as a few Grade 10-12 courses, and our Essentials to Online Learning 10
course. The diverse portfolio of this role requires a candidate who has recent
demonstrated proficiency in online teaching through Brightspace. Experience
teaching Humanities at the Secondary level would be considered an asset.
Candidate must also be fluent in Microsoft 365 and be confident with video
conferencing platforms, digital organization tools, and online assessment
methods.

This position will have a home base of Kootenay Discovery School in the
community of Fernie. This is a distance learning school. The schedule for this
position is still to be determined. Please note that all work will be on-site.
