About the role
A****BOUT THE ROLE
Under general supervision, the HVAC Mechanic performs skilled journeyperson level work on FMFN residential, facility, and building HVAC mechanical systems (heating, air flow, and air conditioning systems). Responsibilities include installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing HVAC mechanical components and systems in accordance with industry standards and to ensure safety, functionality, and efficiency.
Work involves a variety of construction, renovation, maintenance, or repair duties, requiring skill, precision, experience and knowledge of trade practices to produce refined work products. Assignments are usually in the form of oral or written work orders. The journeyperson may be assigned tradespersons, apprentices, or labourers to assist in the work. Duties vary from one position to another but, in general, the below duties are performed. Registered apprentices will also perform or assist in these duties in accordance with their training and under the guidance, instruction, and direction of a journeyperson.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Aid with HVAC system installation in homes and offices.

Install, service, and fix roof units for residential and business building heating and air conditioning systems.

Use a range of hand tools and equipment for HVAC installation.

Repair and replace air ducts.

Pick up and give tools, equipment, and supplies from the project site accordingly to orders.

Ensure that all tools, materials, and gear are in good operating order.

Perform preventative maintenance on HVAC systems and associated equipment.

Ensure that all HVAC systems adhere to industry standards and regulations.

Collaborate with homeowners, team members, and facility maintenance staff to assess task requirements and provide accurate work scopes.

Maintain a clean and organized work environment.

Provide excellent customer service, addressing client concerns and inquiries in a professional and courteous manner.

Adhere to safety protocols and procedures to minimize risks and hazards in the workplace.

Complete documentation and reporting accurately and in a timely manner.

Willingness to train and mentor apprentices, providing guidance and instruction on proper techniques and safety protocols.

Perform other related duties as assigned.
KEY REQUIREMENTS
-
Minimum of three (3) years of journeyperson experience in the trade.

Highschool diploma or GED equivalent.

Alberta or Interprovincial Journeyperson certification in the trade of Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic.

Emergency First Aid and Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certificate at time of hire an asset.

CSTS and WHMIS; H2S Alive, Fall Arrest, Elevated Work Platform, Other Trade Tickets an asset.
