About the role
Taiga Building Products is growing, and we’re looking for a motivated Building Material Sales Representative to join our team in Winnipeg. In this role, you’ll manage a diverse portfolio of customers and products, including trading commodities, selling specialty products, and making occasional field visits to strengthen relationships and grow market share across throughout Manitoba and the Prairie region. The ideal candidate is driven, entrepreneurial, and eager to develop their career with a fast-paced, well-established leader in the lumber and building materials industry.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
3–5 years of proven success in building materials, lumber trading, or distribution sales. Strong understanding of commodity markets and profit-based decision-making. A self-motivated, high-energy personality with relentless drive to succeed. Excellent communication, relationship-building, and problem-solving skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Tech-savvy with experience using CRM or ERP tools (BisTrack, Power BI, etc. a plus). Professional appearance and attitude with the ability to represent Taiga confidently to customers and vendors.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage and grow an established customer base while developing new business opportunities in assigned territories. Trade commodity lumber and panels, balancing competitive pricing, market insight, and inventory turns to maximize profitability. Build strong relationships with customers through consistent communication, exceptional service, and deep product knowledge. Stay ahead of market trends by analyzing industry publications, mill reports, and competitor activity to position Taiga for success. Collaborate with procurement, logistics, and branch operations to ensure on-time deliveries and customer satisfaction. Drive sales of emerging Taiga product lines to diversify customer spending and expand category growth. Participate in occasional customer visits, tradeshows, and industry events to strengthen relationships and identify new opportunities. Maintain accountability for the full sales cycle: quoting, order entry, follow-up, and after-sales service.
