**Job Purpose:**Bus Driver is responsible to provide safe and efficient transportation to and from school and school-related activities, working as part of a team to contribute to the growth and development of children and youth.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to safely and confidently operate a school bus
- Good working knowledge ofThe Highway and Transportation ActandThe Traffic Safety Act
- Good working knowledge of theSaskatchewan Driver's HandbookandSaskatchewan Commercial Driver's Handbook
- Good understanding of, and ability to apply, a range of student behaviour strategies focused on positive reinforcement of desired behaviour
- Demonstrated patience, maturity and experience working with children
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Qualifications:
- Must hold and maintain a valid Saskatchewan Class 1-5 Driver's License for at least 2 years.
- Must hold a valid School Bus Endorsement
- training is available for non-licensed school bus drivers
- Clear driver's abstract, with no major infractions
- A current Driver's Abstract from SGI detailing all (personal and commercial) driving records for the last 5 years must be submitted with your application
- A copy of the abstract can be:
- uploaded to your online application,
- emailed to transportation@pvsd.ca or
- faxed to 306-543-1771.
- Satisfactory medical examinations in accordance withThe Highway Traffic Act
- First Aid Certification or be willing to obtain one at Prairie Valley School Division's expense.
Working Conditions:
- Full time bus routes are paid at daily base rate of $57.26plus a per km rate calculated at $0.22/km
- The mileage for this route is paid at the minimum of 90 kms for a total of $77.06 per day
- 100% employer paid heanth benefits plan
- Employer matched pension plan
- Drivers with young children may take their children with them on the bus
- Subject to CUPE Agreement
- Commencing as soon as possible and ending June 26, 2026
- Working in varied climates and differing road conditions
- Physical ability to load and unload students in wheelchairs may be required.
