About the role
We are seeking a Fund Accountant to join our team in our Denver headquarters. This role reports directly to the Director of Accounting & Reporting and will be responsible for performing and coordinating fund accounting functions across the organization. The successful candidate will have a working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and experience with private equity accounting. An outstanding fund accountant should also possess strong Excel skills, be detail-oriented, and highly organized. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working in an entrepreneurial and team environment with minimal day-to-day oversight.
Job Responsibilities
The Fund Accountant will be a critical member of the Fund Accounting team and will be expected to bring their unique talents and experience to bear to advance our strategic objectives. The Fund Accountant’s responsibilities include preparing financial reports, fund accounting, cash management, maintaining the general ledger, assisting with audit preparation, and performing other accounting duties as assigned. This role will be responsible for specific functions including, but will not be limited to:
Generate and review quarterly partnership financial statements and partner capital statements. Prepare timely and accurately work papers, capital call and distribution notices, calculate carried interest, allocate profits and losses in accordance with governing documents. Assist with the monitoring of fund performance, track cash flows, and prepare investor reports. Respond timely and accurately to investor inquiries. Analyze partnership and investment documents and properly set up investment structures and subsidiaries. Provide support for the external audit function during the quarterly review and year-end audit. Investigate and resolve audit findings, account discrepancies, and issues of non-compliance. Perform other accounting duties and investor services duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications (minimum requirements)
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field. Minimum 2 years of experience in a private equity fund accounting position. Experience with partnership accounting and partnership tax rules. Solid comprehension of GAAP, ASC 946, the Investment Company Act of 1940 and experience with accounting and reporting for private equity partnerships. Experience with investor reporting and CRM practices.
Intermediate MS Excel skills and proficiency with accounting systems
Expected Salary Range
