About You

You are a detail-oriented self-starter who enjoys solving complex hardware problems and working across engineering disciplines. You will contribute to the electrical design of our capital hardware and instruments, including power electronics, control systems, sensors, high-speed communication, redundancy, and network architecture. You are a strong communicator and team player who can collaborate effectively to help deliver high-quality results.

What you'll do

Contribute to the research, design, development, testing, and validation of electronic components, PCBs, and electrical systems for medical devices and capital hardware. Support full lifecycle design of mixed-power, embedded computing, and interconnect PCBs. Use test tools to evaluate designs at the board and system level, and document analyses, architecture decisions, and test results. Participate in design reviews and help develop robust, reliable architectures through simulation, analysis, and testing. Collaborate with firmware, manufacturing, and cross-functional engineering teams to ensure correct implementation and test coverage. Support electrical safety and compliance testing, including IEC 60601-1 and related standards. Assist with design verification, test reporting, and design control documentation. Help evaluate reliability of materials, components, and production techniques. Provide mentorship and technical support to other engineers as needed.

What you'll need

Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field, with 3+ years of experience, or equivalent experience. Experience with schematic capture and PCB layout tools such as Altium Designer. Understanding of power integrity, signal integrity, EMC, and fault tolerance. Experience with embedded systems, sensors, serial communication, and analog/digital circuit design. Familiarity with power distribution, regulation, current limiting, fusing, and component selection. Experience bringing hardware products through development and compliance testing. Proficiency with common electrical test equipment such as DMMs, oscilloscopes, function generators, and DC power supplies. Knowledge of Good Documentation Practices (GDP).

Bonus Points

Experience in optics, robotics, or the medical device industry. Experience with rigid and flexible PCBs, dynamic cabling, or similar systems. Familiarity with brushless DC motor systems. Interest in safety-critical and fail-safe design. Appreciation of puns.

The salary range for this position is $80,000-$105,000 annually. Compensation will be determined based on the individual’s demonstrated experience, education, training, relevant certifications or licensure, and other applicable business and organizational factors.
