About the role
Niagara Energy Products, with a reputation for excellence as a producer of heavy nuclear grade fabrications is currently recruiting for a Quality Control Inspector/ Non-Destructive Examination (NDE) Technician to join their team. This position is full-time and based out the Niagara Falls, ON facility. Purpose: The purpose of this position is to perform quality inspections and non-destructive examinations on welded items in an industrial shop. In this position, you will: · Be responsible for performing quality inspections on all production activates · With keen eye, inspect welds including but not limited to visual, liquid penetrant, magnetic particle), dimensional inspection, and calibration What to expect while working on the shop floor: · Depending where on the shop floor the work under inspection is being performed, the environment may be hot, cold, dirty and/or noisy. In this position, you will have: · A College diploma in a technical field is required · Experience in a similar position or field- Minimum of 2 years · Knowledge and exposure to the machining and welding processes-Minimum of 2 years · A certificate in CGSB-48.9712 Level 2 for MT and /or PT is required · The ability to lift up to 50lbs · Be able to stand, kneel, reach, bend and sit for long periods of time · Proficiency with computers, Word, Excel, Outlook · A positive and cooperative attitude with attention to detail · The ability to work independently and within a team environment · Effective communication skills with individuals at all levels of the organization
In addition to the requirements, having the following experience is considered an asset: CWB -W178.2 Level 2 Liquid and / or Magnetic Examination experience · Visual & Dimensional Inspection experience · Welding inspection experience · Equipment Testing · Experience with tool calibration · All duties to be performed within a controlled environment (CSA N299/ISO9001 program) · Understanding of ASME Sections II, III, V, VI, VIII & IX. About Niagara Energy Products
We are a specialist nuclear fabricator working with carbon steel, alloy steel and composite structures. We have three ISO 9001:2015 facilities very close to the US border comprising:
- a 100,000 sq. ft. heavy manufacturing shop in downtown Niagara Falls, Ontario (ON) that we are currently expanding by some 20% with a world class, large horizontal boring machine,
- a 90,000 sq. ft. NQA-1 compliant nuclear fabrication and storage shop for our 55Te steel/concrete composite Dry Storage Containers (DSC) and other waste container products and that is located in Fort Erie, and,
- a 20,000 sq. ft. precision machining and assembly shop for high value alloy steel nuclear components in Brantford, ON.
We have fabricated nuclear reactor components and primary circuit pressure boundary components for the Pressurized Water Heavy Water (PHWR) reactors in Canada and hold all the necessary qualifications, codes and quality systems for such work. NEP’s NQA-1 compliant quality system covers our Nuclear Manufacturing and Engineering Quality Control System and Nuclear Fabrication and Welding.
We have long experience in the manufacture of nuclear spent fuel high level waste (HLW) containers, intermediate level nuclear waste (ILW) containers, low-level nuclear waste (LLW) containers, waste container overpacks, composite radiation shielding, nuclear gantries, bulkheads, lifting and handling systems
Our passion is manufacturing, welding and fabrication and we are retooling with robotics and large automated milling to deliver the next generation of nuclear components.
