About the role
Position Summary... Reporting to the Senior Manager, Communications, you’ll partner with divisional business units and cross-functional teams to develop, deliver and measure meaningful communications across the business that support Walmart Canada’s external communication strategy. What you'll do... Enterprise Communications Develop and deliver compelling external communications that help build the profile of Walmart Canada and its associates and strengthen the business’ reputation. Support business partners and Canadian leadership team members with various communications needs, including memos, announcements, speeches, social media posts and LinkedIn articles. Manage editorial calendars to identify and execute ongoing storytelling opportunities and major business announcements. Draft a variety of communications, including press releases, corporate stories, communication plans, digital content, briefing materials, FAQs, executive remarks, thought leadership content and video scripts Distribute content across various internal and external channels including (newsletters, corporate websites, newswire, LinkedIn, and other digital platforms. Lead content development and channel management for Walmart Canada's LinkedIn presence, ensuring a consistent and engaging corporate voice. Create and execute data-driven content strategies that increase engagement, reach, and visibility across digital channels. Support special projects and events with planning, coordination, project management, and content creation. Media Relations & Issues Management Develop and execute proactive media relations strategies that generate positive coverage and support business objectives, including press releases, media lists, pitches, and media outreach. Manage media inquiries by developing timely, accurately and consistent responses that help protect and strengthen Walmart Canada’s reputation. Build and maintain strong relationships with national, regional and trade media to enhance Walmart Canada’s corporate profile. Measurement Conduct regular reviews of communication programs/channels to ensure activities deliver on objectives. Track metrics, develop dashboards/reports, and refine programs as needed to ensure they remain effective. Stay active on the latest trends and best practices to identify opportunities for improvement. Advice and Counsel Guide and support peers and leaders to solve communications challenges while ensuring overall consistency of strategic direction, positioning, and messaging. Qualifications: Post-secondary degree or post graduate certificate in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism or related field. 5+ years of experience in corporate communications, public relations, journalism or corporate affairs Exceptional communication skills (writing, editing, speaking) and strong attention to detail. Experience developing and executing communication plans and managing multiple projects. Social media savvy – LinkedIn, Workvivo, Instagram and new/emerging tools and platforms Solutions oriented, flexible, adaptive to change and able to maintain composure under pressure. Customer centric and responsive with a high sense of urgency. Ability to build relationships with multiple stakeholders, including those at executive level. Ability to present ideas, solutions, and influence decisions with multiple stakeholders and executives. Keen desire to learn and take on new challenges. Self-driven, with the ability to manage multiple competing and shifting priorities. Bilingualism is an asset (not required).
