Reports To: Production Supervisor / Production Manager Position Summary The Lead Hand is responsible for providing day-to-day direction, support, and coordination of production employees within their assigned area. This position acts as a working leader, ensuring production schedules, quality standards, safety requirements, and operational objectives are achieved. The Lead Hand serves as a resource for employees, assists with training, and helps maintain a productive and positive work environment. Key Responsibilities Leadership & Team Support Provide daily direction and guidance to employees within the assigned department. Coordinate work assignments to ensure production requirements are met. Assist with employee training, onboarding, and cross-training activities. Monitor employee performance and provide coaching on work practices and procedures. Communicate production priorities, safety concerns, and operational updates to the team. Support supervisors in maintaining a positive and respectful workplace culture. Act as the first point of contact for employees regarding day-to-day operational issues. Production Ensure production schedules and targets are achieved while maintaining quality standards. Monitor workflow and identify opportunities to improve productivity and efficiency. Assist in troubleshooting production issues and implementing corrective actions. Ensure proper staffing coverage and communicate manpower concerns to supervision. Perform production duties as required while leading the team. Quality Promote and reinforce quality standards throughout the department. Verify that inspections and quality checks are completed as required. Identify quality concerns and work with production and quality personnel to resolve issues. Ensure employees follow work instructions, procedures, and customer specifications. Support continuous improvement initiatives aimed at reducing scrap and rework.
