Role Description The Geo-material Technician is a full-time, on-site role based in Edmonton, AB. The technician will perform routine and specialized materials testing in the laboratory and field, including sampling, preparation, and analysis of soils, aggregates, concrete, and related construction materials. Daily responsibilities include operating and maintaining testing equipment, recording and interpreting test results, and supporting geotechnical investigations and deep foundation projects. The role involves assisting with quality control programs, documenting observations, and preparing clear, accurate reports for engineering staff and project managers. The technician will collaborate with engineers and other team members to ensure testing procedures meet company standards, regulatory requirements, and project specifications, while maintaining a safe and organized work environment. Qualifications Candidates should possess strong Quality Control and Inspection skills to ensure materials and test procedures comply with project standards and regulatory requirements. Candidates should possess experience with Materials and Material Handling to safely sample, store, and prepare geo-materials for testing and analysis. Candidates should possess solid Laboratory Skills to operate testing equipment, follow established procedures, and accurately record and interpret results. Relevant post-secondary education or technical diploma in civil engineering technology, materials science, or a related field is beneficial. Ability to work safely in laboratory and field environments, including lifting, handling materials, and working in varying weather and site conditions. Strong attention to detail, basic math and data-entry skills, and the ability to follow standardized procedures and quality systems. Effective communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate with engineers, technicians, and site personnel. Valid driver’s license and eligibility to travel to project sites in the Edmonton region and surrounding areas is an asset.
