Role Description The Policy and Insights Specialist is a full-time, on-site role based in Ottawa, ON. This role is responsible for monitoring and analyzing energy, regulatory, and public policy developments that impact TC Energy’s business, and translating these findings into clear, actionable insights for internal stakeholders. The specialist will synthesize complex information from government sources, industry publications, and stakeholder input, and draft briefing notes, reports, presentations, and internal communications to support strategic decision-making. Day-to-day activities include stakeholder engagement with internal teams, supporting advocacy and government relations initiatives, tracking legislative and regulatory changes, and contributing to scenario analysis and risk assessments. The role collaborates closely with colleagues in policy, regulatory affairs, sustainability, and commercial teams to align insights with corporate priorities and long-term strategy. Qualifications Policy research and analysis skills, including the ability to interpret legislation, regulations, and public policy documents, and assess implications for the energy sector. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience preparing clear briefings, reports, presentations, and executive summaries tailored to different audiences. Stakeholder engagement and collaboration skills, including working effectively with cross-functional teams such as regulatory, government relations, sustainability, and commercial units. Analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities, including data interpretation, critical reasoning, and the capacity to develop evidence-based recommendations. Organizational and project coordination skills, including managing multiple priorities, meeting deadlines, and maintaining attention to detail in a fast-paced environment. Knowledge of the energy industry, public policy processes, and Canadian federal and provincial regulatory environments; experience in natural gas, power, or infrastructure sectors is an asset. Post-secondary degree in public policy, political science, economics, law, business, environmental studies, or a related field; advanced education or relevant certifications are an advantage. Demonstrated commitment to ethical conduct, inclusion, and respect in the workplace, and the ability to work with diverse perspectives and backgrounds.
