We are looking for a Payroll & Benefits Specialist to help grow our business and contribute to our future.
You will play a key part in delivering accurate, timely payroll while supporting benefits administration and managing time-related data in Workday. You will spend your time interpreting policies and legislation, helping resolve pay and benefits questions with confidence and care. Additionally, you will contribute to attendance and disability case support, and assist with the administration of pension and benefit plans for ISC and its subsidiaries. Reporting to the Payroll & Benefits Manager, highlights of the position include:
- Processing bi-weekly and monthly payroll accurately and on time, including all regular and ad hoc payments (e.g., final pay, severance, adjustments)
- Ensuring payroll accuracy and compliance through thorough pre- and post-payroll audits
- Administering pension and benefits programs, ensuring accurate setup, remittances, and records across systems
- Maintaining accurate employee data, including attendance, entitlements, and benefit balances
- Supporting compensation cycles, including bonuses, salary adjustments, and other mass updates
- Providing reporting and support for payroll, benefits, and HR cases, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality
- Managing payroll-related financial reporting, including GL entries and year-end processes (e.g., T4s)
- Identifying and resolving payroll and benefits issues, recommending process or system improvements as needed
- Other required duties
What you’ll need:
- Certification with the National Payroll Institute, HR diploma/certificate, or equivalent payroll experience
- 5–7 years of experience in payroll and benefits administration
- Strong knowledge of provincial and federal payroll legislation, Employment Standards, and experience working in a unionized environment
- Experience managing year-end payroll processes (e.g., legislated reporting)
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and experience with Workday or other payroll systems

- High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and data integrity, with the ability to handle sensitive information confidentially
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and meet tight deadlines

- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
