AIRFREIGHT SUPERVISOR
YOUR ROLE Oversee the daily operations of the Airfreight department, including import, export, and related international transportation activities. Supervise and coordinate departmental workflow to ensure timely, accurate, compliant, and cost-effective shipment execution while delivering high-quality service to internal and external customers. Monitor SOPs, KPIs, shipment documentation, operational systems, customer service issues, and team performance to support business objectives. Provide training, coaching, and day-to-day leadership to team members while maintaining appropriate workload coverage and acting in accordance with the company’s guiding principles and core values.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
Customer Service & Stakeholder Communication Develop and maintain excellent customer service to internal and external customers at all times. Maintain close communication with overseas offices, agents, carriers, vendors, customers, and cross-functional departments to resolve operational issues and support service delivery. Handle service issues and customer complaints related to airfreight shipments, escalating service failures to management and supporting corrective actions as required.
Operational Performance & Process Improvement
Monitor departmental SOPs, KPIs, performance statistics, and workload distribution to identify opportunities for efficiency and service improvement. Identify areas of concern in clients’ import and export processes through team performance monitoring, shipment document audits, accounting reviews, and periodic client reviews.
Team Leadership & People Management
Ensure appropriate backup coverage within the team to maintain continuity of service during absences or operational peaks. Support staff retention and development by training, coaching, and strengthening team members’ airfreight operational knowledge, customer service standards, compliance awareness, and overall performance. Conduct team meetings to assess departmental status, discuss improvement opportunities, and communicate new developments. Address all employee performance problems promptly and directly in accordance with personnel policies.
Documentation, Compliance & Systems
Review and monitor shipment documentation for accuracy. Ensure shipment documentation, operational systems, and transportation management systems are used accurately and consistently, following up on non-compliance with established processes. Examine various documents including invoices, bills of lading, and shipping statements to ensure compliance with federal and foreign regulations governing the shipment, receipt, and documentation of imported/exported products. Ensure all policies and procedures are consistently administered. Perform other duties as assigned.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
College degree Minimum five years of related experience in freight forwarding, airfreight operations, international transportation, or a similar logistics environment. Minimum one to two years of supervisory, team lead, or people management experience. Strong knowledge of airfreight import and export operations, forwarding processes, shipment documentation, carrier/agent coordination, customer service expectations, SOPs, and applicable regulations. Working knowledge of Dangerous Goods, Good Distribution Practices, and recordkeeping requirements. Experience supervising airfreight teams, monitoring operational KPIs, managing customer escalations, and coordinating with overseas offices, agents, carriers, and cross-functional departments.
