About the role
Mill Operations Supervisor (McClean Lake) In this dynamic leadership role, you will guide your team in day-to day operations to ensure safe, efficient, and seamless production across the mill. You’ll coordinate with multiple departments to minimize downtime, maintain equipment and drive Operational Excellence. You’ll empower your team and directly contribute to company goals and values. Responsibilities include: Ensure the safe and efficient operation of the mill, water treatment plants, TMF pipelines, ponds and all outside facilities related to the operation of the Mill Complete notifications to ensure the mill equipment is adequately maintained Organize the operating crew to ensure the running areas of the mill are operated safely and efficiently Develop employee competencies to ensure crew flexibility within all operating areas Work closely with other departments to keep the mill running smoothly and minimize down time Working knowledge of the union contract and ability to interpret it To accept other responsibilities as delegated by the General Supervisor and/or Mill Operations Superintendent To monitor, develop and ensure the training progress of crew members Ensure that the mill is operating in an efficient manner, through organizing the crews and work production Minimize downtime through proper coordination of work processes and across the different departments To be instrumental in attaining department goals and objectives Strive for minimum radiation exposure Monitor, develop and ensure the training progress of crew members Monitor the mill performance making sure the process is controlled within the guidelines Maintain a positive and safe crew morale Must work with other departments to keep everything running smoothly Embrace, promote, and support Operational Excellence and OE culture Promote and adhere to Orano’s Values: Safety and Security, Team Spirit and Cohesion, Continuous Improvement, Customer Satisfaction, Ethics, Transparency and Dialogue, Respect and People Development Skills and Qualifications for the position include: Must have minimum Grade 12 or equivalent Minimum 7 years of operations experience in milling, mining, resource extraction or heavy industrial (preferably uranium), though candidates with less experience may be considered Knowledge of processing circuits used at the McClean Lake Mill – such as solvent extraction, acid leaching, precipitation, high-temperature calcining, grinding, thickeners and clarifiers - is an asset Must be able to effectively organize crews while mentoring and supporting operators in building knowledge and accountability within their areas Experience with (or the ability to learn) general business software programs such as Word, Excel and SAP is required Prior experience with PI Vision and DeltaV in an operational environment is as asset Knowledge and application of Operational Excellence tools is an asset Must have good communication skills, both orally and written Proven leadership skills are essential, typically demonstrated through previous supervisory roles or experience as a lead hand Must be able to effectively organize crews while mentoring and supporting operators in building knowledge and accountability within their areas Preference will be given to RSN candidates Work Location & Schedule: Fly-in, fly-out to McClean Lake site 14 days in /14 days out rotating schedule Ability to work rotating shifts (days and nights) Normally an 11 hour work day, though work outside of regular hours may occasionally be required Salary Range: $126,400 - $148,750 Fly Day- This position will fly in and fly out on Tuesday Pick-Up Points: Saskatoon, Prince Albert, La Ronge, Buffalo Narrows and the designated communities in the Athabasca region of Camsell Portage, Uranium City, Stony Rapids, Fond du Lac, and Wollaston. As a condition of employment the successful candidate must complete Orano’s pre-employment checks including education verification and employment reference checks. Drug (including marijuana) and alcohol substance testing is a requirement for all Safety Sensitive positions. Applicants who have recently used marijuana recreationally may not pass a substance test as marijuana can remain in the user’s system for as many as 30 days after use.
