Lab Assist Instructor - Integrated Nursing Practice

This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about mentoring students, supporting hands-on learning, and promoting safe, evidence-based nursing practice in a collaborative lab and simulation environment.

- August 18 (7:30am-6:00pm)

- September 18 (7:30am-6:00pm)
About the Role:
The INP Lab Assist Instructor is responsible for supporting the delivery of lab and simulation instruction within the Integrated Nursing Practice program. This position plays a key role in ensuring students receive high-quality, consistent, and supportive practical learning experiences.
Key Responsibilities:
Class & Lab Preparation
- Review course materials, lab schedules, simulation objectives, and testing resources
- Collaborate with the Curriculum and Lab teams to support instructional consistency
- Complete required readings and prepare for all assigned lab sessions
- Provide feedback on curriculum, lab processes, and testing improvements
Lab Facilitation & Student Support
- Assist with demonstrations, hands-on practice, and student skill development
- Support students during lab activities by answering questions and clarifying expectations
- Monitor student participation and encourage safe, evidence-based practice
- Participate in student debriefing discussions and provide constructive feedback
- Assist with lab setup, organization, attendance tracking, and cleanup
Student Evaluation & Testing
- Review testing materials and evaluation criteria in advance
- Support student testing and practical skill evaluations
- Provide detailed written feedback and complete evaluation documentation
- Participate in re-testing activities when required
Compliance & Standards
- Follow all approved curriculum materials, testing protocols, and step-by-step checklists
- Maintain consistency and professionalism in all instructional and evaluation activities
- Adhere to Stenberg College policies and lab safety standards
Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years of recent and relevant nursing experience as an:
- Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), or
- Registered Nurse (RN)
- Previous teaching, supervision, mentoring, or training experience is considered an asset
- Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills
- Commitment to safe, evidence-based practice and student success
- Willingness to participate in the NACC Instructor Development Course (required)
