Fanshawe College is advancing its digital transformation through the implementation of Workday, a modern cloud-based enterprise platform that is reshaping how we support our employees, finances, and future student services. Having successfully deployed Workday Human Capital Management (HCM), Finance, and Adaptive Planning, the College is now preparing to embark on the next phase of its journey with the implementation of Workday Student. As Workday becomes the foundation of our administrative ecosystem, access to accurate, timely, and actionable data is more important than ever. To support this evolving landscape, Fanshawe has established a dedicated Workday Sustainment Team responsible for optimizing the platform, driving continuous improvement, and enabling data-informed decision-making across the College. We are seeking a skilled Report Writer to join this growing team. In this role, you will play a critical part in transforming complex data into meaningful insights that support strategic planning, operational excellence, regulatory reporting, and institutional decision-making. Your expertise will help ensure that leaders across the College have the information they need to make informed decisions and maximize the value of our investment in Workday. Reporting to the Director, Workday Sustainment this position provides specialized knowledge of Workday reporting and data analysis. The Workday Reporting Specialist is responsible for the design, development, and maintenance of custom and standard Workday reports and dashboards for end users and integration. This role has responsibility for the administration and improvement of the Workday reporting processes and is responsible for understanding the company's Workday data, ensuring data integrity, translating business requirements into understandable and user-friendly reports and dashboards. This role ensures timely, accurate, and meaningful data is accessible to stakeholders across the organization to support operational and strategic decision-making. The specialist will collaborate closely with business stakeholders to translate business needs into Workday reports and dashboards. A customer focused approach, balanced with intimate data knowledge, is key to proactively identifying opportunities and translating business needs effectively. This role will also collaborate with the Institutional Research team to provide data and reports for enterprise-wide data analytics and dashboards that will improve decision-making.
How You’ll Make an Impact
Report Configuration and Maintenance Design, build, test, and maintain custom and delivered reports in Workday HCM and Finance modules Create calculated fields, advanced reports, and dashboards to meet end-user and integration requirements Ensure data accuracy, security compliance, and alignment with reporting standards Utilize customer report design standards and report monitoring to ensure a consistent, trusted user experience and optimum report performance Stakeholder Collaboration and Requirements Gathering Collaborate with key leadership and lead the enterprise reporting and analytics strategy Partner with business stakeholders to understand and document reporting needs Translate business requirements into technical specifications for Workday reports Educate users on self-service reporting functionality where applicable Collaborate with Institutional Research or other departments as necessary to build capability for enterprise-wide business intelligence reporting Data Integrity and Compliance Validate report data regularly to ensure accuracy and consistency Support audit and compliance activities by delivering timely and reliable data Apply appropriate security roles and access levels for report users System Optimization and Documentation Analyze and optimize existing reports for performance and usability Maintain documentation for reports, calculated fields, and reporting logic Stay current with Workday system updates and reporting enhancements Future System Expansion Support Participate in planning and implementing reporting functionality for the Workday Student (SIS) module or any future module to be implemented Adapt reporting solutions to support evolving organizational needs and systems Continuous Learning and External Engagement Stay current with Workday releases and new reporting tools that can enhance the organization’s reporting capabilities Understand evolving business data analysis needs and proactively recommend solutions Engage with the Workday Community and other user groups to explore innovative solutions, gather best practices, and support troubleshooting efforts Other Duties as Assigned What You'll Bring Post-secondary four (4) year Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Science, or related field with an emphasis on ERP systems or other related discipline; Post-secondary four (4) year diploma/degree with a combination of other relevant equivalent education and/or experience will also be considered Minimum five (5) years of experience in Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) with at least three (3) years of experience with designing and maintaining reports in Workday, specifically in HCM, Finance, and/or Student Information System (SIS) modules Demonstrated experience using Workday Report Writer, Calculated Fields and Composite Reports Experience with Workday Studio, EIB’s, Cloud Connectors, RaaS and BIRT reporting Exposure to Student Information Systems (Workday or equivalent) is desirable or a willingness to grow in this area Sound understanding of integration security groups and policies Proven experience in troubleshooting complex 3rd party Integrations, EIBs ensuring source to target data movement is efficient with data integrity Experience consulting with technical and non-technical teams to help shape Reporting and Integration build/maintain requests Experience working with cross-functional teams in a collaborative environment Experience working in a large, multi-department organization Experience working in a unionized working environment would be an asset Excellent analytical, mathematical and statistical ability Comprehensive knowledge of business analysis relating to ERP Proficient with MS Office, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, and other applications (i.e. Share Point) Highly developed skills in collecting, organizing, analyzing, and disseminating information with attention to detail and accuracy Ability to collaborate with all levels of management and stakeholders, team orientated, and ability to build consensus Solution oriented and outcome focused Excellent communication skills, including writing and business presentations Ability to build relationships, including active participation in the Workday Community platforms, and relevant forums to enhance best practices What This Opportunity Offers Comprehensive Pension & Benefits: Join a defined-benefit pension plan (through the CAAT Pension Plan) that delivers predictable lifetime retirement income, plus dental, disability, travel insurance and extended health coverage Vacation: Enjoy paid time off and benefit from a scheduled holiday closure that offers additional rest and time with family during the winter season Tuition & Professional Development: Continue your learning journey — eligible employees and their dependents can take select Fanshawe programs or courses at a reduced cost Inclusive, Meaningful Campus environment: Work alongside passionate colleagues in an inclusive culture that values diversity, drives student success, and connects you to the local community and campus life.
