PET Systems Engineer (IT) - Brain Health Imaging Centre
About the role
As Canada’s largest mental health care provider, the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) provides evidence to drive system and policy change through the implementation of innovations and novel service delivery interventions. The Brain Health Imaging Centre (BHIC) is one of the primary research areas of CAMH and focuses on new brain imaging tools and methods used in mental health and addictions for clinical neuroscience research.
The BHIC is currently seeking a full-time permanent PET Systems Engineer, reporting to the Manager, Engineering Division. The PET Systems Engineer is responsible for the computer networking systems associated with the BHIC’s specialized equipment and infrastructure, including medical cyclotrons; commercial and in-house built automated radiochemistry equipment; radiation safety systems; PET, CT, and MRI scanners for both human and preclinical use; ancillary devices; and related imaging equipment for preclinical studies. These tasks will include: planning and developing computing environments; software and hardware integration; maintaining, troubleshooting, and performing repairs of servers, workstations, and associated hardware; designing, building, and testing of specialized devices and systems for radiochemistry, PET imaging, and physics experimentation and measurements; and the quality control and development of quality assurance procedures to optimize the performance of equipment systems to minimize failures.
BHIC Computer & Network Systems: develop, implement, integrate, maintain, upgrade, and provide technical support of BHIC specialized computer systems, networks, data servers, workstations, and associated software & hardware.
BHIC Equipment & Infrastructure: support and assist in the monitoring, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of cyclotrons and associated subsystems; radiochemistry devices, units, and related equipment; radiation safety & monitoring systems; and PET imaging equipment and ancillary devices.
Quality Assurance: participate in and support BHIC quality assurance.
Safety: adhere to and promote the highest standards of engineering, radiation safety, and workplace practices for self, co-workers, research participants, CAMH staff, and the public.
Regulatory Compliance: perform all work in compliance with all applicable legislation and requirements including, but not limited to, those under the Nuclear Control and Safety Act (CNSC) and Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA).
Institutional Compliance: perform all duties in compliance with CAMH policies and procedures, and those specific to the Brain Health Imaging Centre.
Provide support to the Manager, Engineering Division as needed for other initiatives.

The PET Systems Engineer will also support the monitoring, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of BHIC ‘s specialized equipment and infrastructure. This position is located on-site at 250 College Street.
