Division: Global News Toronto MMC Work Status: Full-Time Location: Toronto, ON (On-site) About the Role: Global News MMC/OTT is currently looking for a full-time Producer/Editor to join its team based out of our Toronto office. Reporting to the Executive Producer of OTT and Multi-Market Content. Shifts will be varied and will include Saturdays, Sundays, afternoons and evenings, and there may be some shifts during the week. This is a Group 4 position under the current collective agreement.
You will contribute by: Produce, line-up and write news broadcasts for various markets working with teams in various regions of Canada. Take broadcast events live via a control room as needed. Write, edit, and produce packaged and live segments. Participate in editorial discussions and meetings. Work with the Executive Producer and Supervisor to determine editorial direction and content of newscasts. Work with Graphics teams to produce graphic elements to enhance storytelling and the overall look of the new broadcasts. Perform other duties as required. Hours of work: varied, including Saturdays and Sundays. Skills and experience you will bring: Post-secondary education in journalism, broadcasting, or a related field, combined with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in television broadcasting. Excellent news judgment with the ability to respond quickly and knowledgeably to breaking news. Strong TV production and writing skills, with familiarity in news video editing (knowledge of Grass Valley software is an asset). Proven ability to troubleshoot, handle multiple tasks, and maintain creativity under the pressure of tight broadcast deadlines. Exemplary communication and leadership skills, with a track record of working collaboratively, professionally, and respectfully in a team setting. Open to receiving and learning from constructive feedback, paired with an amazing, can-do attitude. Knowledge of, and experience with, social media tools, technologies (X/Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, etc.), and related applications. Life experience in, and knowledge of, various Canadian regions is considered a strong asset.
