Tamwood International Camps welcomes young learners ages 11–17 to explore artificial intelligence through hands-on projects, real-world challenges, and learning through discovery. Campers participate in a wide range of extra-curricular activities including sports, arts & crafts, adventure challenges, and excursions, while building confidence, independence, curiosity, and lifelong friendships.

We are seeking enthusiastic, entrepreneurial, and future-focused Instructors who are passionate about innovation, youth leadership, and empowering teens to design solutions to real-world challenges.
Academy Overview
The Future of Work Academy prepares learners to explore emerging industries, develop essential workplace skills, and understand the real-world challenges and opportunities shaping the future. Through hands-on projects, industry exposure, and inquiry-driven learning, students learn to think creatively, collaborate effectively, and design solutions that contribute to a better world.
Centered on values-driven innovation and meaningful impact, the Future of Work Academy blends systems thinking, design thinking, strategic frameworks, and communication skills. Learners participate in structured sessions, with collaborative project work, company visits, guest speakers, and excursions that connect learning to place and industry. The program culminates in the Future Impact Challenge, a team-based pitch where learners propose real-world solutions supported by strategy and a compelling story.
Role Summary
The Future of Work Academy Instructor plans and facilitates a two-week sequence of engaging, inquiry-driven, project-based sessions that integrate sustainability, systems thinking, innovation frameworks, entrepreneurship skills, leadership development, and pitch coaching.
Instructors guide learners through collaborative cycles of problem discovery through planning, prototyping, testing, refining, and pitching, supporting each group to produce a final presentation and project artifacts aligned to Academy deliverables.
Teaching Responsibilities
- Deliver Engaging, Hands-On‘ Future Skills & Innovation’ Lessons
- Plan and teach daily classes aligned with Tamwood Future of Work curriculum, inquiry framework, and learning outcomes.
- Facilitate learning experiences in:
- Values-based leadership and future skills
- Sustainabilityexploration andsystemsthinking
- Design thinking and ideation
- Lean Business Model Canvas development
- Mission, vision, and value proposition creation
- Strategic tools (SWOT, Blue Ocean, competitive thinking)
- Basic financial modeling and feasibility
- Pitch structure, storytelling, and delivery
- Use collaborative, student-centered approaches including design sprints, gallery walks, peer critique, prototyping labs, and reflection routines
- Connect learning to real-world contexts through Company visits, guest speakers, and place-based observations from camp excursions
- Mentor students work towards ‘The Future Impact Challenge’ (final project):
- Support groups to select a problem area and define who is affected, what is happening, and why it matters
- Coach teams to develop a solution that demonstrates holistic understanding, innovation, purpose, and strategy
- Facilitate iterative feedback cycles to improve clarity, feasibility, impact, and presentation quality
- Prepare learners for final pitch day, including rehearsals, Q&A practice, timing, and presentation presence
- Daily Preparation & Instructional Materials
- Prepare lesson plans and facilitation notes aligned to the FoW Learning Map and Facilitator Guide
- Create and adapt slides, worksheets, templates, canvases (Lean Canvas, SWOT, empathy maps), and reflection tools
- Curate age-appropriate materials and examples for sustainability, innovation, entrepreneurship, and future industries
- Organize hands-on activities using available supplies (sticky notes, chart paper, prototypes)
- Student Support & Classroom Management
- Supervise students during breaks and non class times, as scheduled.
- Maintain an English-only environment in the classroom.
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and energetic atmosphere consistent with the spirit of summer camp. Encourage confidence, vulnerability, curiosity and creative risk-taking.
- Model professionalism, collaboration, and responsible leadership. Differentiate support for diverse learners(from first-time innovators to advanced thinkers).
Reporting & Administrative Duties
- Attend all required staff meetings and training sessions
- Complete administrative tasks accurately and on time, including daily attendance, project milestone tracking, providing formative feedback, as well as participating in graduation ceremonies.
- Report to the Head Teacher and Academic Manager (and/or Camp Director, as required).
- Collaborate with the Academic Manager to arrange guest speakers and recommend company visits.
Desired Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree or diploma in one or more of the following (or related fields): Business, Entrepreneurship, Innovation, Sustainability, Education, Social Sciences, Communications, International Development, or Design
- Demonstrated experience teaching, mentoring, or facilitating youth (camp, classroom, workshop, or leadership programs strongly preferred)
- Strong facilitation skills with confidence leading collaborative group work, inquiry-based learning, and project coaching
- Familiarity with key innovation frameworks, such as design thinking, systems thinking, Lean Canvas, SWOT, Blue Ocean Strategy, basic budgeting/financial modeling
- Strong communication and classroom management skills
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced camp environment
- Enthusiasm for youth leadership development and values-based learning
Location: UBC
Contract dates: June 28 to August 8. 20 hours per week
Working days: Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday
