Summary of the Opportunity
Join the HomeLearners Network (HLN), an
exciting program of SelfDesign Learning Foundation offering a collection of live online educational activities designed to ignite learners' passions while fostering real-time connections in a supportive online environment.
We are seeking experienced,certified educators to provide support during live
online activities delivered by approved HomeLearners Network Guides or guest presenters.
The HLN Support Guide is responsible for ensuring that activities are
conducted in accordance with SelfDesign policies, maintaining a safe and supportive online learning environment, and providing the required certified educator presence throughout the activity. This role does not include developing curriculum, designing activities, or serving as the primary facilitator.
This is a flexible hourly contract opportunity beginning September 1, 2026
through July 31, 2027, with opportunities for renewal.
This role is ideal for certified educators who enjoy supporting engaging
learner experiences while providing support to learners and activity management in an online environment.
Work Environment
We are a remote organization.
HLN Activities are scheduled during Pacific Time zone business hours, Monday
to Friday between 8:00 am and 6:00 pm.
You may also need to be available for occasional online meetings during these
same hours. Meetings, if necessary, are scheduled in advance.

Budget
This contract is paid at a scheduled rate of $38.53 per hour of support during
an activity.

Contract Details
Oversight
You will work at the direction of the HLN Program Lead.
Services Required
- Attend scheduled live online HomeLearners Network activities as the designated certified educator.
- Provide professional support during activities facilitated by approved HLN Guides or guest presenters.
- Support a safe, respectful, and inclusive online learning environment.
- Monitor learner participation and assist with classroom management as needed.
- Ensure activities are conducted in accordance with SelfDesign policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Communicate with the HLN Program Lead regarding any concerns, incidents, or follow-up required
- Complete any required attendance, incident, or session documentation.

Experience and Credentials
- Demonstrated ability to supervise and support groups of learners in virtual settings.

- Experience collaborating with educators or facilitators is considered an asset.
Mandatory Requirements
- Hold an active B.C. Teacher Regulation Branch (TRB) Certificate in good standing
- Be legally eligible to work in Canada.
