Located on the ancestral, unceded territory of the syilx nation, in the heart of the beautiful North Okanagan, School District No. 22 (Vernon) provides exceptional educational programs and a safe learning environment for the over 9,000 diverse students within its 19 schools. Over 1,200 staff work together towards the success of students.
We have an opening for the full-time – exempt position of District Vice Principal, Inclusive Education. The District is seeking a candidate who has demonstrated their commitment to improving outcomes for Indigenous learners, Children and Youth in Care, as well as learners with diverse abilities and disabilities. The successful candidate will have a Master's Degree in Special Education, or a related field, have extensive teaching experience and knowledge of Ministry of Education and Child Care Inclusion policies and procedures, including the Inclusive Education Manual of Policies, Procedures and Guidelines, as well as experience with behavioral interventions, individualized education planning, and student advocacy. A valid BC Driver's License is required for this position. The successful candidate will have a minimum of five years of exemplary teaching experience as well as exemplary experience as a Principal or Vice-Principal.
Reporting to the Director of Instruction (Inclusive Education), the District Vice Principal provides leadership to the Inclusive Education department. The role encompasses strategic leadership, compliance, audits, school support, mentorship, crisis response, intervention oversight, and stakeholder liaison. Additionally, the District Vice Principal ensures the implementation of actions within the Strategic Plan aimed at equitable access and achievement for students with disabilities and diverse needs and collaborates with community agencies by representing the district on committees related to special services.
Compensation and Benefits**:**
The successful candidate will receive:
- An annual salary of $133,804 – $148,951
