Qualifications
MINIMUM FORMAL EDUCATION/TRAINING:
- Undergraduate degree in communications, marketing or other related specialization required.
EXPERIENCE:
- Four years of directly related marketing communications and client management experience in an integrated marketing communications setting required.
- Experience with using Data (formerly Looker) Studio for analytics is required.
- Experience in website content writing and content management is required.
- Experience understanding website user journeys and UX basic design principles is required.
- Experience working in a creative agency setting is an asset.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Strong project management skills are required.
- Exceptional verbal and written skills are required.
- High level of creativity and problem-solving skills are required.
- Proven track record of successful strategic marketing communications planning and implementation is required.
- Exceptional leadership and relationship building skills are required.
- Solid understanding of print and digital marketing communications platforms and ability to leverage in an integrated way to meet identified goals and objectives is required.
- Strong time management skills and the ability to prioritize conflicting demands are required.
- A high degree of independence, diplomacy, and the ability to work collectively in a fast-paced environment is required.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 is required.
- A proven track record in working with all levels of staff independently, including senior administration, external stakeholders and others, is an asset.
- Demonstrated ability to manage a broad range of marketing communications projects from concept to completion is required. This includes, but is not limited to:
- marketing communications strategies
- print publications
- social media strategies
- digital content development
- advertising
- market research
- Thorough knowledge of the procedures and techniques in the field of specialization is required.
- Satisfactory work record, including satisfactory attendance and punctuality, is required.
Key responsibilities
- Works collaboratively with Student Recruitment, as a strategic partner, to plan, develop, implement and evaluate the annual cycle of prospective student marketing and communications initiatives, including the advertising campaign, social media, events and website.
- Supports the Team Lead in development of multi-channel marketing strategies and annual ad campaign planning.
- Supports in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of marketing communications efforts associated with the brand and reputation of the University of Manitoba.
- Develops clear, persuasive and on-brand content for different audiences across digital and print platforms to enhance the reputation of the university.
- Creates and manages digital content via UM’s CMS platform and optimizes for AEO/SEO/SEM.
- Uses analytics tools to track, analyse and report on digital campaigns and website performance.
- Collaborates with colleagues across SMC and Student Recruitment to ensure marketing communications efforts align with institutional priorities and are delivered through an effective, integrated approach that meets project needs.
- Employs best practice strategies and effective project management to ensure projects achieve objectives and are implemented on time and on budget.
- Builds and strengthens collaborative relationships through day-to-day project and partner management, strategy development and overall project vision.
- Tracks the progress of marketing communications activities and initiatives for their assigned area and alerts Team Lead to possible issues of time delays or cost overruns.
- Participates as an active member of the larger team of marketing officers and creative professionals within SMC, providing creative and strategic support to colleagues.
- Constantly watches for opportunities to proactively and strategically showcase positive, reputation-enhancing stories for the institution and at the same time alerts managers and directors of SMC to potential issues.
- Continually monitors and interprets new trends in marketing communications and identifies opportunities to apply and share this knowledge.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
