THE OPPORTUNITY

The First Nations Tax Commission's is looking for a Data Analyst to help build and advance our Data and Statistics function. Reporting to the Director, Information & Technology, the Data Analyst helps transform data into meaningful insights that support strategic decision-making, demonstrate the impact of FNTC services, and strengthen the understanding of First Nation local revenues and economies.

Working closely with the Data Engineer, the Data Analyst develops reports, dashboards, and visualizations that enable evidence-informed decision-making across the organization. As the primary point of contact for staff, the Data Analyst helps ensure data is accessible, understood, and effectively used to support organizational priorities.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Analyze complex datasets to identify trends, patterns, and insights that support organizational planning, decision-making, and program evaluation. Prepare, interpret, and communicate analytical findings through dashboards, reports, infographics, and other data visualizations. Develop and maintain key performance indicators, performance measures, and reporting frameworks. Translate technical and statistical information into meaningful business insights for technical and non-technical audiences. Respond to requests for information, reporting, and data analysis from across the organization. Serve as the primary point of contact for staff requiring support with dashboards, reporting tools, and the Data and Statistics Function. Collaborate with business areas to identify reporting needs, gather requirements, and recommend data-driven solutions. Support user training and promote effective use of reporting tools and dashboards. Develop and maintain documentation for reporting methodologies, business definitions, and analytical processes. Partner with the Data Engineer to improve reporting capabilities, data quality, and analytical processes. Support the development and continuous improvement of policies, procedures, and standards related to data collection, validation, management, and reporting. Contribute to organizational information management, privacy, records management, and data governance practices. Support compliance with ISO certification requirements and other applicable data standards and best practices. Identify opportunities to automate reporting, improve data accessibility, and enhance organizational reporting capabilities. Contribute to projects that strengthen organizational research, evidence-informed decision-making, and continuous improvement.

The successful candidate will likely bring

A post-secondary education in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, Business Analytics, Software Engineering, or a related discipline—or an equivalent combination of education, training, certifications, and experience. Two (2) to three (3) experience in data analysis, business intelligence, reporting, or analytics, with the ability to analyze complex datasets and translate findings into meaningful business insights. Experience developing dashboards, reports, and visualizations using Power BI or similar business intelligence tools. Understanding of data governance, data quality, information management, privacy legislation, and records management principles. Experience with Microsoft Fabric, Azure, Databricks, SQL, or similar analytics platforms is considered an asset. Microsoft certifications in Power BI, Microsoft Fabric, Azure, Data Analytics, or related disciplines are considered assets. Knowledge of artificial intelligence technologies and their application to analytics and business intelligence is considered an asset. Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to identify trends, patterns, and opportunities from complex data. The ability to communicate technical and statistical information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences. Excellent organizational, project management, and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities. Strong interpersonal, written, verbal, and presentation skills, with a collaborative approach to working across teams. A commitment to continuous learning and staying current with emerging technologies, analytics tools, and industry best practices.

CE QUE VOUS APPORTEZ

Le candidat retenu ou la candidate retenue apportera probablement : Des études postsecondaires en informatique, Sciences des données, Systèmes d’information, Analyse commerciale, Génie logiciel ou dans une discipline connexe—ou une combinaison équivalente d’études, de formation, de certifications et d’expérience; De deux (2) à trois (3) ans d’expérience en analyse de données, informatique décisionnelle, production de rapports ou en analytique, de même que la capacité d’analyser des ensembles de données complexes et de traduire les résultats en perspectives d’affaires utiles; De l’expérience dans l’élaboration de tableaux de bord, de rapports et de visualisations en utilisant Power BI ou des outils semblables d’informatique décisionnelle; Une compréhension de la gouvernance des données, de la qualité des données, de la gestion de l’information, des lois sur la protection de la vie privée et des principes de gestion des documents; De l’expérience avec Microsoft Fabric, Azure, Databricks, SQL ou des plateformes d’analyse semblables est considérée comme étant un atout.
