Please note that this role is not remote Role permanent Please note that only selected candidates will be contacted and there may be a few weeks of delay Paralegal - 5 - 7 years - Mississauga, Ontario We are looking for an experienced paralegal. The position is based in Mississauga and reports to the Head of Legal, Canada. As a member of the legal team, you will have the opportunity to provide legal services on a variety of issues pertaining to all business units of JTI Canada including our Global Supply Chain, Sales, Marketing, Corporate Affairs & Communications, People & Culture as well as Finance and IT. Most of your time, however, will be dedicated to corporate governance, contracts and compliance matters pertaining to our reporting obligations in Canada. Responsibilities Support the legal team in Managing corporate duties for all Canadian corporate entities Reviewing intercompany agreements and obtaining signatures from Directors of corporate entities on necessary resolutions. Analyzing legal risks in a wide range of matters related to commercial, regulatory and compliance law. Proactively monitoring and analyzing new regulatory reporting requirements Developing and presenting concise summaries, actionable recommendations and training to relevant business stakeholders to meet reporting obligations Preparing and filing required reports, including through liaising with third party agencies, preparing and attending regulators’ audits – addressing follow ups. Work collaboratively as part of the legal team and provide legal support to matters and/or JTI business functions as determined by the line manager from time to time. Qualifications Licensed paralegal or law clerk, legal technician or similar studies 5 to 7 years of relevant experience Ability and willingness to learn new skills, including regulatory compliance and reporting obligations Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken – The candidate must be fluent in English. Excellent decision-making and self-management skills Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural environment Occasional travel may be required Compensation Package $78,000.00 - $90,000.00 CAD annually + Bonus Eligibility. The above reflects the target compensation range for the position at the time of posting.
