This is an opportunity to develop your technical career inside a new 200,000+ square-foot facility featuring state-of-the-art automation, modern warehouse systems, new equipment and innovative packaging technology. At the centre of the role is an advanced automated packaging system that creates right-sized boxes in real time based on the products being shipped. Instead of placing a small order inside an oversized carton, the equipment produces packaging that fits the product—reducing wasted material and space while supporting a faster, more efficient distribution operation. Your primary focus will be keeping this sophisticated equipment operating safely and reliably. You will also gain broader hands-on exposure to electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic and PLC-related work throughout the facility. For an early-career technician with strong electrical or mechanical fundamentals, this is an opportunity to build valuable automation experience while working with technology that is both practical and genuinely innovative. A WEEKEND SCHEDULE WITH FOUR DAYS OFF Friday to Sunday | 3:00 p.m. to 3:30 a.m. | Four days off each week This permanent weekend schedule provides continuity for the distribution operation while giving you a consistent four-day break each week. THE MANDATE You will perform preventative maintenance, troubleshooting and repairs on automated packaging equipment and other technology throughout the distribution centre. When equipment is not performing properly, you will investigate the problem, determine whether the cause is electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic or controls-related, and identify the most effective method of repair. You will also support equipment installations and upgrades and assist with broader electrical and maintenance work around the facility as required. This role offers meaningful independence. You must be comfortable taking initiative, working through technical problems and operating safely with limited supervision, while knowing when to involve other members of the maintenance team. WHAT YOU WILL DO Perform scheduled and as-needed preventative maintenance on automated packaging equipment and other facility systems Diagnose electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic and controls-related problems Identify practical repairs and restore equipment to safe, reliable operation Support the installation, commissioning and upgrading of new and existing equipment Complete PLC troubleshooting and programming support based on your experience and skill level Read and interpret electrical and mechanical schematics Document completed work and communicate equipment issues clearly Maintain a clean, organized and safe working environment WHAT YOU BRING Strong hands-on mechanical aptitude and a genuine interest in automation technology Electrical knowledge involving motors, wiring, panels or industrial equipment A methodical approach to troubleshooting and determining the underlying cause of equipment problems The ability to read electrical or mechanical schematics Initiative, sound judgment and the ability to work with limited supervision A safety-first mindset and willingness to work the permanent weekend shift A college diploma in manufacturing, mechatronics, electrical technology or a related discipline is an asset. One to two years of maintenance experience involving electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic or PLC systems would also be valuable. However, the company is open to a developing technician with strong technical fundamentals, practical aptitude and the capacity to learn. Experience within manufacturing, distribution, automated material handling or another equipment-intensive environment would be an advantage.
