Our programs include emergency and second-stage housing, PEACE program, community-based victim services, sexualized assault services, education and prevention initiatives, a 24/7 support line, and a community thrift store. The Opportunity: We are seeking an experienced and collaborative Advisor, People & Culture to join our People & Culture team. Reporting to the Director, People & Culture, this role contributes to a positive employee experience by supporting a broad range of human resources programs and initiatives that strengthen our people, culture, and organizational effectiveness. Key Responsibilities: Strategic People Leadership & Culture Support organizational culture, engagement, inclusion, and change initiatives. Provide guidance on People & Culture policies, practices, and programs. Assist with the implementation and communication of People & Culture priorities. Promote respectful, inclusive, and psychologically safe workplaces Labour & Team Member Relations Provide support and guidance on employee and labour relations matters. Assist with investigations, accommodations, performance management, and attendance management processes. Coordinate disability management, leave administration, and return-to-work planning. Support grievance administration and ensure compliance with policies, collective agreements, and legislation. Talent Strategy Support recruitment, onboarding, retention, and employee development initiatives. Coordinate learning, engagement, and recognition activities. Provide guidance on talent management programs and best practices. Total Rewards Support benefits, disability management, wellness, and recognition programs. Coordinate accommodation plans, disability claims, and return-to-work processes. Contribute to initiatives that enhance employee wellbeing and workplace experience. HR Operations, Systems & Data Governance Maintain People & Culture systems, records, documentation, and workforce data. Support HR technology administration, optimization, and adoption. Prepare workforce reports, metrics, and analysis to support decision-making. Assist with audits, compliance activities, policy maintenance, and process improvements. Requirements: Required Qualifications Diploma or degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, or a related field. Minimum 3 to 5 years of progressive Human Resources or People & Culture experience. Experience working within a unionized environment. Experience supporting recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, disability management, leave administration, performance management, and HR operations. Strong understanding of: Employment legislation Human Rights legislation Privacy requirements WorkSafeBC requirements Labour relations principles Collective agreement administration Required Skills & Competencies Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills. Strong communication and conflict resolution abilities. Exceptional organizational and time management skills. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment. Ability to prioritize competing demands in a dynamic environment. Proficiency with Microsoft 365, HRIS platforms, reporting tools, and workplace technologies. Commitment to equity, inclusion, learning, and continuous improvement. Assets The following qualifications would be considered assets: CPHR designation, or working toward a CPHR designation. Experience in the non-profit, social services, healthcare, or community services sectors. Knowledge of trauma-informed practice. Understanding of gender-based violence and the impacts of domestic abuse in the workplace. Additional Requirements: Satisfactory criminal record and vulnerable sector check. Valid BC driver’s license. Access to a reliable vehicle Location: On-Site (multiple locations) Term: Full-Time – 18 months Hours of Work: 37.5 hours work week, typically from Monday to Friday. Ability to work flexible hours as needed due to 24hr operations, may include occasional early mornings, evenings, and weekends. Pay: $63, 781 to $72,000 The Compensation Range is the span between the minimum and maximum base salary for a position. The midpoint of the range is approximately halfway between the minimum and the maximum and represents a team member that possesses full job knowledge, qualifications, and experience for the position. In the normal course, team members will be hired, transferred, or promoted between the minimum and midpoint of the salary range for a job. Requirements
Requires a diploma or degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, or a related field, plus 3 to 5 years of progressive HR experience, including work in a unionized environment. Candidates need experience across core HR functions and knowledge of employment and human rights legislation, privacy, WorkSafeBC requirements, labour relations, and collective agreements; a CPHR designation and relevant sector or trauma-informed experience are assets.
