Reporting to our Director of Human Resources, the Human Resources Generalist is responsible for all functions of HR, including HR administration, recruitment support, WCB management, employee engagement, and performance management. This role requires close collaborations with managers to foster a positive workplace culture, ensure legislative compliance, and support organizational goals through effective people practices. This role requires travel to all Kepler locations within Edmonton and surrounding areas on a quarterly basis. Key Responsibilities Respond to daily HR inquiries in a timely and professional manner Create and maintain job descriptions and job postings Screen resumes and conduct candidate pre-screen interviews Support recruitment activities and recommend best hiring practices Prepare employment offers and employment agreements Manage onboarding activities and ensure completion of new hire requirements Facilitate HR Orientation for the new Support Team employees Administer HR processes throughout the employee lifecycle, including employment documentation, work authorization compliance, certifications, and employee records. Support employment and termination processes by providing HR best practice recommendations Develop, maintain, and communicate HR policies, procedures, and the employee handbook while ensuring compliance with employment legislation and organizational standards. Provide guidance to managers and employees on employee relations, performance management, disciplinary matters, employment legislation, and HR best practices Conduct workplace investigations, provide recommendations, and support managers with coaching, progressive discipline, and conflict resolution. Support employee engagement initiatives, surveys, recognition programs, and culture-building activities that enhance the employee experience. Support benefits administration, annual compensation reviews, employee inquiries, and related HR programs. First point of contact for WCB claims management Partner with managers, employees, healthcare providers, and WCB to coordinate return-to-work programs Monitor active claims and support case management activities, including modified work arrangement. Participate in health and safety committee meetings, promoting compliance at centre level, and assisting with action plans Build strong relationships with leaders through quarterly site visits Promote a positive, inclusive, and respectful workplace culture You will possess the following: Strong attention to detail and accuracy Excellent organizational and time management skills Demonstrate critical thinking and creative problem-solving qualities Excellent interpersonal and communications skills, both written and verbal; with the ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with various stakeholders in a professional manner Ability to make decision with sounded judgement and in accordance with the Alberta Employment Standards Ability to handle multiple deadlines and competing priorities in a fast-paced decision-making environment Ability to work as both an individual contributor and within a team environment Ability to handle confidential information with discretion Effective interpersonal, consultative and relationship management skills to build and maintain positive working relationships with all stakeholders Willingness to consciously create a workplace culture that is consistent with the overall organization and emphasizes the identified mission, vision, guiding principles, and values of the organization Qualifications And Requirements 3+ years of progressive Human Resources experience Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Human Resources Management or related field CPHR designation or working towards designation would be considered an asset Comprehensive understanding and working knowledge of Alberta Employment Standards, Human Rights Legislation, Occupational Health & Safety, WCB, and best HR practices. Requirements
Candidates need 3+ years of progressive HR experience and a Bachelor's degree or diploma in Human Resources Management. Knowledge of Alberta Employment Standards and a valid Class 5 Alberta Driver's License are required.
