Internal/External Posting Position Title: Domestic Violence Prevention Worker (Men’s Program) Classification: Union Type of Position: Part-time 21 hours/week, contract Conditions of Work: Onsite Seniors Program Worker, 21 hours per week. Part-time Contract. This is an Onsite position. This position will fall under the collective agreement between the Community Social Services Bargaining Association of Unions (CSSBA) and Community Social Services Employers’ Association (CSSEA). The position will fall under the conditions of employment as a member of the BC General Employees’ Union (BCGEU). This position is a contract position for 5 months, with an anticipated end-date of March 31, 2027, with the possibility of extension. Job Title: Domestic Violence Prevention Worker Classification: Adult, Youth and/or Child Worker and Victim Service Worker Grid Level: 11, JJEP Wage Grid, Step 1, $29.22 JOB SUMMARY The Domestic Violence Prevention Worker will support participants, particularly newcomer men, in understanding and practicing being in healthy relationships. This change will happen by learning to choose different thoughts, words, and actions in their relationships. As part of the Violence Prevention Team, the Domestic Violence Prevention Worker will work collaboratively with social workers, community-based agencies, and service providers to provide outreach, resources, and referrals for men. The Domestic Violence Prevention Worker will engage men through culturally responsive group-based programming and education to improve emotional management, strengthen their parenting skills. Duties and Responsibilities: Program Facilitation * Independently or with a co-worker, prepares and facilitates violence prevention workshops, within established agency guidelines * Conducts regular follow ups and needs analyses to understand improvements and additional needs Client Support * Understands client needs and develops strategies to address them * Provides culturally sensitive problem-solving assistance to clients * Shares community resources and makes referrals where necessary * Establishes and maintains positive regular communication and relationships with clients * Meets with clients on site, in the community or at another agreed-upon location * Advocates and supports best practices in relation to violence in relationships and child protection * Attends meetings and court cases as required Outreach * Builds relationships with community groups and networks to increase reach to eligible individuals * Establishes and maintains relationships with partner organizations and community resource providers * Liaises with the Ministry for Children and Families Differential Team, social workers and police as required * Conducts community outreach and education, and supports development of family strengthening activities * Participates in ongoing professional development and stays current with new resources and tools, meets clinical supervision requirements as required. Administration * Maintains program and client files, related records and statistics, and writes reports as required * Complies with privacy legislation and all relevant regulations and policies * Provides input to the Director and Coordinator in the preparation of the annual budget * Other duties as required QUALIFICATIONS * Diploma in relevant human/social science field * Training and two (2) years’ experience working with either: 1. men who are or who have been violent to their partners, and the impact on women and children 2. women who have experienced abuse 3. Or an equivalent combination of education and experience * Reliable vehicle and a valid BC driver’s license with a safe driving record * Criminal record check Reporting Relationships: This position reports to the Family Programs Coordinator.
