This role will focus on the preparation and documentation of accurate cost estimates and competitive tenders that will result in successful construction. Knappett Industries (2006) Ltd. is a privately owned construction company with operations bases in Nanaimo, Courtenay, Port Alberni, Fort St. John, and Prince George BC. Since commencing operations in 1988, Knappett has grown to be a leading provider of civil construction services for major infrastructure, residential subdivision development, underground utility installation & replacement, road building, land clearing projects in British Columbia. Over the past 30 years Knappett Industries Ltd. has maintained a strong and accelerating growth rate, with operations currently serving Western Canada. Responsibilities: ü Prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates for civil infrastructure projects, including earth works, site works, road construction, and underground utilities. ü Review drawings, specifications, and site conditions to develop quantity take-offs and pricing strategies. ü Utilize estimating software (MS Excel and/or HeavyBid) to produce detailed estimates and proposals. ü Identify and pursue opportunities in both public and private sectors. ü Collaborate with Project Managers and other Estimators to review tenders and refine estimates. ü Participate in pre-construction planning, bid reviews, and post-award project kick-offs. ü Provide estimating support to project teams during execution, as needed. Requirements: ü 3+ years of cumulative applicable work experience. ü Familiarity with civil construction. ü Great attention to detail and overall social skills. ü Strong organization and communication skills, with the ability to multitask. ü Skilled in reading and interpreting plans and specifications. ü Outstanding written and verbal communication skills. ü Proficient in Microsoft Office, knowledge of MS Project. This position is compensated at a salary between $95,000 - $135,000, DOE. Employees are eligible for enrollment in our company benefits package following successful completion of a three month probationary period. Compensation will be determined by the successful applicant’s level of training and experience. Submissions will be reviewed and only short-listed applicants will be contacted for interviews.
