We support public and private utilities, consultants, and contractors across the U.S. and Canada, providing end-to-end engineering solutions, including conceptual design, feasibility studies, detailed design, construction drawing package, field inspection, project closeout documentation, and more Kosmos Group is looking for an Entry Level Transmission Line (EIT) to join our team in our Calgary office. This position will report directly to the Transmission Line Department Manager. The successful candidate will primarily do Project work, including site design for utility infrastructure, including both overhead and underground high-voltage line design. Projects are primarily for utility clients to design, plan, and improve the modern electric grid. This role is full-time with a hybrid schedule of three days in the office and two days from home. Alternatively, the candidate may choose to work from the office 5 days a week The primary duties include: Routing and design of Transmission/Distribution lines utilizing Power Line Systems (PLS) software, PLS-CADD Modelling existing lines and poles using PLS-CADD and PLS-Pole Develop design criteria/basis and specifications for the transmission and distribution line design and procurement of materials Develop project cost estimating and quality control reviews Assist the Engineer of Record in preparing construction documents including plan and profile drawings, structure loading trees, and foundation and assembly drawings Assist the Engineer of Record in preparing specifications and project design criteria Provide construction support for transmission/distribution line project Work collaboratively in a team environment and attend internal/external meetings to support processes Required Qualifications Engineer in Training Certification required or ability to obtain within 6 months of employment Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited college Must be analytical, self-motivated, and possess the ability to work in a team environment and a variety of situations while maintaining a positive, enthusiastic attitude Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships Ability to perform work safely and effectively Ability to work productively and meet deadlines timely Proficiency with MS Office applications Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to travel Preferred Qualifications Related engineering, internship, or co-op experience in the Transmission & Distribution field Experience using PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, and PLS TOWER Familiarity with design codes and standards such as NESC, IEC, CSA, IEEE, ANSI, IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, and ACI 318 3.0 cumulative GPA or higher Description: Entry-Level We’re seeking passionate individuals who bring fresh perspectives and innovative ideas.
