Our ESG practice in Vancouver is seeking a motivated and high performing Manager to support the delivery of sustainability assurance and advisory services to public and private sector clients, with a focus on mining. This position requires a combination of desk- and site-based work, with opportunities to travel throughout North America and internationally for sustainability assignments. (Please note we are open to hiring this role based on experience not level- so title could change dependent on experience) What You Will Do Our Managers are expected to work collaboratively with the national ESG team focusing on; Leading by example and being an authentic and active advocate of responsible business Have clear points of view on mining sustainability megatrends Support firm wide sustainability propositions Deliver technical assurance and advisory services across a broad range of ESG topics in the natural resources space, including sustainability strategy, environmental and social management systems, sustainable planning and operations, supply chain management, compliance assessments and corrective action/ management planning Manage engagements including scoping, resourcing, budget monitoring, analysis and report writing Support client relationship and business development initiatives such as leading proposals, identifying new target clients, and performing market research Support development of KPMG’s profile within the marketplace through industry involvement, contribution to internal and external publications, and assistance with presentations at conferences and industry events Mentor junior-level and mid-level consulting staff to develop their skill sets including technical skills, project experience, and general consulting and decision-making skills Support collaborative networks with staff and managers from other KPMG offices to help advance integration, business development, and learning opportunities What You Bring To The Role A Bachelor's degree in Science, Engineering, Sustainability or Business At least 5+ years of relevant experience in mining sustainability, including demonstrated familiarity with international and industry standards (e.g. ICMM, TSM, GISTM, IRMA) Must demonstrate site/ field-based mining experience. Experience conducting third-party assessment against industry best practices, regulatory requirements and corporate standards Experience developing and implementing environmental and social management programs for projects in various stages of development (e.g. construction, operations, and/or closure) Strong project management skills (e.g., development and tracking of work plans, budgets, schedules, and project controls) Demonstrated ability to manage teams through effective delegation, mentoring and performance management skills Excellent client service skills with an aptitude to understand the clients' business and maintain strong client relationships Ability to work in a fast-paced professional environment, including multitasking and complex challenges Exceptional verbal and written communication skills Experience managing project teams and being responsible for client delivery Desirable Skills A Master’s degree (MBA, MSc. or Meng.) is preferred, but not mandatory for candidates with substantial relevant work experience Experience auditing against technical verification standards (e.g. ISO 9001/14001/45001, SA8000, SFI, CSA Z809, FSC standards, MAC-TSM, IRMA) Additional language skills (e.g., French, Spanish) are an asset You must have a passion for sustainability in mining and a commitment to responsible business. In addition, you will have An ability to explain complex topics clearly to non- technical professionals and apply technical concepts and techniques to real world situations. A pragmatic approach to analysis and problem solving, able to implement structure in complex client environments. Commitment to continuous learning and development. KPMG BC Region Pay Range Information The expected base salary range for this position is $88,000 to $131,500 and may be eligible for bonus awards. The determination of an applicant’s base salary within this range is based on the individual’s location, skills & competencies, and unique qualifications.
