School District No. 83 (K̓wsaltktnéws ne Secwepemcúl'ecw) is looking for dedicated and enthusiastic professional educators for Full and Part-Time continuing, temporary contracts, and Teacher Teaching on Call looking for positions in Elementary and Secondary music. Applicants must also be prepared to assume other teaching responsibilities in the core and/or elective areas commensurate with qualifications, experience and interests. Qualifications Bachelor of Music degree or equivalent; Valid BC teaching certificate and current membership in the Teacher Regulation Branch; Orff levels, Kodaly levels or equivalent coursework. Teachers applying for this position should possess the following skills: successful experience in Elementary or Secondary Music instruction and/or Middle School Band instruction; excellent classroom management skills; evidence of excellent interpersonal, conflict resolution and communication skills in working with staff, students and parents; demonstrated ability to use a variety of current instructional strategies and assessment methods; working knowledge of the renewed curriculum for Arts Education; commitment to stimulating student interest and confidence in learning; ability to teach recorder, guitar, band, dance and/or choir; demonstrated ability to work collegially as part of a school staff; comfortable planning and executing school-wide concerts and events; ability to relate effectively to all students; ability to promote support for a school's Music program; successful recent experience working with students with special needs in an inclusive environment; current knowledge of and interest in applications of computer technology in the Music classroom.
