Job details

About LaBarge Weinstein LaBarge Weinstein is not your typical law firm. We set out to do things differently when we founded LW in 1997, and nearly 30 years later, that vision continues to guide us. Our goal has always been simple: to be our clients’ most valuable business advisor. We are a client-centric firm that provides responsive, creative, and practical advice and solutions. We are business-oriented, technology-focused, and committed to delivering personalized service. Most importantly, we don’t just say it—we live it. From startup through exit, and every step in between, we work alongside our clients to understand their businesses, anticipate their needs, and help them succeed. We are engaged, business-savvy, and passionate about the work we do. We believe in building genuine, long-term relationships—with our clients and with each other. At LW, you’ll be part of a team that values collaboration, innovation, and making a meaningful difference for our clients. Overview: In this role, you will work closely with our corporate lawyers and clients on a wide range of tax matters arising throughout the business lifecycle. Our clients range from innovative startups and growing private companies to established and public companies, giving you the opportunity to work on sophisticated and varied transactions. What you’ll do: Advise corporate clients on tax matters arising on formation and throughout the life of the business. Provide tax advice relating to employee incentive arrangements. Support domestic and cross-border financings and other corporate transactions. Advise on tax considerations related to exits, acquisitions, reorganizations and corporate transformations. Provide tax and estate planning advice to founders, high-net-worth individuals and their corporate groups. Work collaboratively with our corporate lawyers to provide practical, business-focused advice to clients. Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and colleagues. Skills and Experience: 3–5 years of solid tax experience (2021-2023 year of call), with experience in one or more of corporate reorganizations, corporate transaction support or high net worth planning Strong technical tax knowledge and an enthusiasm for tax. A willingness to learn and take on new challenges. Exceptional client service skills and the ability to build strong relationships with both colleagues and external clients. Strong communication, analytical and problem-solving skills. The ability to work independently while also being a collaborative member of a team. This is a new position created due to team growth. While the preferred location for this role is our Ottawa office, we are open to candidates based in Toronto or Vancouver, where we also have offices. We are committed to offering competitive compensation. The expected annual base salary for this role is $125,000–$170,000. Placement within this range will be based on a number of factors, including experience, qualifications, demonstrated skills, and work location.
