Job summary
Lead the technical delivery of Shopify projects by translating business needs into clear roadmaps and coordinating development teams. Manage multiple client relationships while conducting quality assurance and documenting technical workflows.
Job details
The Role As Product Owner, you’ll lead the technical delivery of Shopify projects for our clients. You’ll contribute to the client relationship, translate business needs into a clear roadmap, coordinate the development team, keep documentation and quality testing on track, and help define the features we build. This role requires deep ecommerce and project management experience. Shopify expertise is an asset, not a requirement: you’ll deepen your knowledge of the ecosystem through hands-on work and mentorship from the team. What a Typical Week Looks Like Joining a client call about fulfillment workflow issues and working with our senior team to scope the right solution. Managing development assignments and tracking progress across several client implementations. Conducting QA on a checkout customization. Documenting test cases, updating client documentation, raising issues that are blocking progress, and identifying where a manual process could be automated. The Challenge Lake House has tripled in size over the past three years and aims to do it again. We’re building something different: we embed with our clients’ teams for the long term as their Shopify and AI Commerce partner, rather than operating like a traditional agency that delivers one-off projects. You’re joining a company that’s still being built. Some processes are well established; others still need to be created. When something isn’t working, we expect you to raise it, propose a better approach, and help put a lasting solution in place. This is a hands-on role. You’ll manage client relationships and roadmaps, but you’ll also review the work, test the details, and make sure what gets delivered actually solves the need. What’s hard about this Technical complexity. Multi-market setups, complex catalogs, custom workflows. Shopify has deep capabilities, and the job is to understand them well enough to design good solutions rather than describe requirements. If you arrive without that depth, this is the steepest part of the climb, and it takes real effort before it gets comfortable. Several clients at once. You'll own relationships with multiple clients simultaneously. The context switching is real and it costs something. Continuous learning. Shopify changes constantly. New APIs, new capabilities, new best practices. What you knew last year is partly out of date. Building while delivering. We're doing excellent client work and building our internal processes at the same time. Both matter, and they compete for your attention. Non-Negotiables French-English bilingualism: You lead client conversations and communicate fluently in both languages, with the team and with client stakeholders. Ecommerce and project management expertise: You know how to turn an unclear request into a clear action plan with defined priorities, owners, and steps. Exceptional organization: You keep several client roadmaps moving in parallel without ever losing track of details, decisions, or follow-ups. Commitment to quality: You test before delivery, catch inconsistencies, and care about the client experience as a whole, not only whether a task is technically complete. Hands-on mentality: You write the briefs, update the documentation, conduct quality assurance, and help unblock the team yourself when needed. Adaptability to change: You adapt quickly as our tools and methods evolve, driven by AI’s impact on how ecommerce work is designed, coordinated, and delivered. Nice-to-Haves Hands-on Shopify experience across products, collections, themes, apps, Shopify Flow, markets, or B2B. Experience working with developers and writing clear technical or functional requirements. Agency or consulting experience managing several client relationships in parallel. Experience with ecommerce operations such as fulfillment, inventory, retail, B2B, or international expansion. Practical curiosity about AI tools and how they can improve client delivery and internal workflows. What It Takes to Succeed Here You bring structure without adding bureaucracy. You listen carefully, identify the real problem, and clear up ambiguity for both the client and the delivery team. When priorities conflict or a project starts to drift, you raise it early. You move easily from a strategic discussion to detailed quality assurance without losing the thread. Most importantly, you take ownership of the outcome: the goal isn’t simply to move tasks forward, but to deliver improvements that have a real impact and work. What You’ll Learn & Develop You’ll deepen your Shopify expertise across complex catalogs, operational workflows, B2B, retail, and international commerce. You’ll learn how to manage technical delivery at scale, build trusted long-term client relationships, and use AI to improve how ecommerce work is scoped, coordinated, and delivered. What We Offer Hybrid work, split between home and our downtown Montreal WeWork office. Competitive salary. A wellness and cell phone allowance. Time and unlimited AI tokens to develop your skills. We invest in your AI fluency the way other agencies invest in conferences. Real opportunities for growth. We’re a small team, so your work will have a concrete impact. A learning environment. We’re always looking to improve. Autonomy. About Lake House Group Lake House Group is an AI Commerce agency for Shopify brands, helping companies break through growth and operational bottlenecks by modernizing systems, automating workflows, and embedding intelligence across operations, marketing, and product management.
