IT Inventory Control Specialist Department: Service Desk & Deskside Program: Information Technology Status: Temporary Full Time (6 Months) Days - 8 Hour Shifts (Subject to Change) Location: Oshawa (Primary Location) & Ajax-Pickering (Secondary Location) - The successful candidate will be required to travel between sites. Position Overview The Inventory Control Specialist is responsible for the efficient receipt, tracking, control, and lifecycle management of end?user computing devices and related peripherals. This role ensures inventory accuracy, supports standardized device provisioning, and maintains reliable asset data to enable effective operational planning, refresh cycles, and audit readiness. The Specialist works closely with the IT Service Desk, Desk Side Support, Vendors, and procurement partners to support consistent, compliant, and timely delivery of IT equipment across the organization. Duties And Responsibilities Inventory & Asset Lifecycle Management Maintain accurate and up?to?date records for end?user devices and peripherals in the IT asset management system. Track assets throughout their lifecycle from receipt to retirement. Conduct regular inventory audits and reconciliations. Support decommissioning, data wipe verification, and disposition records. Support reuse, redeployment, and loaner device programs. Inventory Control & Stock Management Monitor inventory levels and forecast replenishment needs. Maintain secure, organized storage. Label and prepare equipment for deployment. Ordering & Procurement Coordination Submit purchase requests and coordinate ordering. Track order status and resolve discrepancies. Verify shipments against purchase orders. Device Catalog & Standards Support Maintain the end?user device catalog in SharePoint. Support updates based on lifecycle and standards. Request Review & Operational Support Review and validate device requests. Communicate with end users and escalation partners. Reporting, Compliance & Audit Support Produce inventory and lifecycle reports. Support audit activities and compliance requirements. Cross Team Collaboration & Process Improvement Coordinate deployment and reassignment activities. Participate in process improvement initiatives. Provide refresher guidance to IT staff. Service Desk Support (as required) Assist with ticket or phone support. Qualifications Diploma or certificate in IT, Supply Chain, Business Administration, or related field. 1-3 years' experience in IT inventory, asset management, or operations support. 1-3 years' customer service experience (an asset) Knowledge of end?user hardware. Experience with ITSM / asset tools (e.g. ManageEngine, SnipeIT). Strong organizational and communication skills. Ability to lift up to 25-35 lbs. On-site work required for physical inventory handling.
